10% of US Army soldiers are in such poor health they cant be deployed.

http://www.janes.com/article/61671/non-deployable-soldiers-becoming-problematic-for-us-army

This is what happens when you fill a military with non career soldiers who just want government handouts.

Name one army that is 100% deployable at all times.

Protip: you can't. It doesn't happen.

Name a military that has a bigger problem with it soldiers fitness.

Seriously, combat making people fat is more stupid than people being 'big boned'

Hey look, OP is being a faggot again.

This post is misleading and retarded. People who have fucked up backs and non-existent joints are the majority of that 10%. Fat soldiers are still deployable. If you get flagged for being overweight you still go overseas you retard.
>>
>>30378404
The article says nothing about overweight.

The fattest I ever been was in military service. The skinniest I ever been was a mixup between DEP and post OSUT. There wasn't much of a difference. But yes, the army "does" make you fat. Its on you for the lifestyle you pick, but depending on your pre-disposition its almost garuntee'd you are going to get fat again. If not fatter, while in service.

Fat boy story?

>In Iraq, muhreens
>Fat boy in addition to being fat is stupid
>Loses gear, sleeps on post, goes UA to chow hall (supposed to be on a diet)
>Ends up getting entire platoon smoked for losing his NVG's

So...

>We started sneaking shit out of chow hall and putting it under his rack
>3 days worth
>When we do a serialized gear check we stold his NVG's and put them under his rack
>After searching for his NVG's Gunny & Friends look under his rack
>They find soda cans, about 10 brownie trays, MRE cookies everywhere, random plates full of rotten food, piles of candy
>All shit we planted

He got hazed pretty fucking hard, it was great.
>>
>>30378766
Yeah, people eating a whole MRE for each meal of the day. That shit is disgusting
>>
the bigger issue is that like half the army is shitskins

Yeah, no, the only weight gain I had in the Army was muscle mass. I needed to be taped all the time, but I didn't fail it.

"too fat" lol if you knew anything, you would know how they determine BMI in the army, its not accurate, and majority of those busting tape are actually incredibly muscular individuals who are "too thick" in the armies eyes.

This, the majority of overweight soldiers are not unfit, its the product of a shitty BMI system. I was "overweight" but i still passed all PT tests. That's not to say there aren't some extemely fat mother fuckers. Usually they get kicked out anyway unless they suck some dick. As someone already said, being overweight doesn't return you into a non-deployable status.
>>

So these guys go in and barely pass their physical tests and make it to an occupation and just get fat? That sucks for people who can't join because of other reasons a person can't get into the military. Stop eating and drink more water you fucking ham beasts.

Its a small percentage of the force that is actually fat. 100% of them are still deployable.
>>
>>30379188
I am not talking about the rest of them, just the fatties. All I am saying is have some respect for yourself if you wear that uniform and get paid. Drinking more water and eating less is a solution for some fat boys.
>>
>>30379142
>barely pass their physical tests and make it to an occupation and just get fat?
And then get tested again in a year and get fucked. If it goes on for too long they get kicked out. BMI is a trash system and there is a reason they tape.

I weighed 205 ("obese") last time I weighed in. 19% BF when taped. Impressive, no, but the PT test is nothing to me.

There's a difference between a someone who does PT every day and is 20 pounds overweight and the landwhale eating a brick of cheese in their motor scooter.

Although a lot of veterans do get fat because they don't understand exercise = calories expended.

Where does the OP mention anything about being fat?
>>
>>30378467
I reckon it's the same as with professional athletes. They eat a high caloric diet due to the energy they expend while sporting. When they retire, they keep eating the same way without doing the same exercise and they get fat. I might be talking out of my ass though as I have not enlisted yet and don't know how fatty MREs are.

Actually, I could be 8% bmi and have legs growing out of my chest, and still be considered overweight. If you don't know how BMI is calculated, thats cool, go figure it out. But the Army has had a problem with labeling built soldiers as fat for a long time, even thought their body fat is less then the average soldier.

>>30379294
>Where does the OP mention anything about being fat?
His picture is of a fat soldier, and 90% of the posts in this thread are relating to fat soldiers. So better question:
>Where din this thread does it mention anywhere about being undeployable?
Fat soldiers are 100% deployable.

>>30379305
MRE's aren't that fattening. 3 per day with no excercise will land you with a caloric overload, but any amount of actual work for 12 hours will burn that off.
>>
>>30379404
>>Where din this thread does it mention anywhere about being undeployable?

Did you check the link m8?
>>
>>30379424
Yea, and it says nothing about fat people. OP is still a faggot for posting a misleading thread. And you're a faggot for siding with OP.
>>
I legitimately thought you couldn't be in the army if you were even remotely fat.
>>
>>30379446
You don't get kicked out for being fat, day after being told you are fat. That's not how it works.

>>

in the muhreens you get put on a program to get unfat and if you get put on it several times you get put on a board for punishment. If it keeps happening then you just get refused re-elistment
>>
>>30379508
Army: You have 180 days to meet BF %. Second time, you have 90 days. Third time is automatic chapter. You are barred from re enlisting anytime you are fat. You can get kicked out at any time if you don't show satisfactory progress.

Its all tenative, paperwork always gets fucked up.
>>
>>30379536
We had a Specialist with a legit medical problem, something with his thyroid. He gained like 100lbs in six months and he didn't stuff his face. Just ate regular chow hall stuff. Not even short order burgers and shit, regular entrees and salads.

Command let him stick around for a long time because he knew the M109A6 better than just about anyone. He was the defacto new-guy trainer on the Paladin and associated systems.

Bastard could open the breach on the Paladin with two fingers, even on full tension, without bracing or moving much at all.

Point is, sometimes fatties have their place. 99% of their time they are worthless shitsacks.
>>
>>30379577
>99%
I disagree with this, I would place it more around 25-50%. If we are talking about actual fat people, like fat fat, 35%+ bmi and shit, then yea you seem more right.
>>
>>30379045
>BMI in the army, its not accurate, and majority of those busting tape are actually incredibly muscular
One of my best friends was a reserves captain in ausfalian chochos. He was also a state fitness champion at the same time. Zero body fat.

He failed the BMI check and a doctor had to come sign him off as fit for duty. Doc takes one look at his adonis-like body and made him do a push up then signed away.

BMI is good for it's purpose but you need to use some common sense with it.
>>
>>30379796
>Zero body fat.
AIDS? I'm so sorry.
>>
>>30379241
Similar. I also regularly moved heavy as fuck equipment cases around, soloing 200lbs UPSs and doing team clean & jerks to stack 600 pound boxes overhead.
>>
>>30379577
One of the pre-deployment training medics we had in 10th SFG was a huge guy. He'd also been severely injured after getting thrown from a HMMWV in Iraq. But he knew his shit.
>>
>>30379796
>BMI is good for it's purpose but you need to use some common sense with it.
It's only valid if you're a typical office drone with no muscle mass.
