Yo i have this old bayonet i found in my ak case. Any idea where i can get this sharpened? Local knife company said they cant do it

The steel it's made of is very soft. You can sharpen it just like you would any other knife but it won't hold an edge for shit

I sharpened mine. Its easy just be careful on a bench grinder to make an edge. The knife co. prob didn't want to waste their time on it.

Bayonets weren't meant to be sharp because a sharp blade would get stuck in bone easier than a dull blade. Not that you're going to be going around bayoneting people I hope. Just thought I'd mention that little fact.

If you're a collector, why would you want to sharpen it? A collector isn't going to use it to cut things with it nor lower its value by sharpening it.

Quite the opposite, that blade was made as a wire cutter first, then a shabby bit second. they were never made to be knives. They're made of a type of tool steel.
