>>30364011
Those issue boots or did you buy them?
>>30364636
Mixing camo doesn't hurt so long as the patterns blend reasonably with the environment, it can help to break up the human silhouette at a distance and keep the observer guessing at what they're actually seeing. But of course you have to keep in mind that if you're up scampering about you're going to be seen, the eye sees motion first, silhouette second and color third. Eliminating these tells makes you invisible* for all practical purposes.
*Obviously this only addresses unaided vision. NODs are a different story.

I don't know what size pack you feel comfortable using in your environment for camping and hunting, but I'm pretty sure it would be above 5+ liters.
You want a pack with A decent waist belt just to distribute the weight upon your hips. Not something that puts it's weight on your shoulder's and the arch of your back.
This holds true especially when you're carrying back meat from your hunt and extra camping supplies.
I would subject you go with an external frame pack with a Haul system like pic related.

You attatch a weaver rail to that section. There are specialized lights that attatch without a rail section as well, or you can use the weaver/picatiny light mounts after adding a rail. You can attach face guard panels as well.

Combat Lifesaver. Every infantryman in the army now gets the 1 day CLS class during OSUT. When I was in, I took that and then a 3 week course given by our medics for "official qualification". that's how they put it anyway.
CLS teaches you how to handle bleeding more than anything. Blood loss is actually the number one killer on the battle field, so as CLS your job is to plug up any holes and scream MEDIC really, really, loud. It also teaches you how to help prevent shock, set broken bones, and put in IVs to assist your medic or to treat a heat injury.

Hi guys, quick question:
AR500 LVL III+ vs Bulletproofme ceramic LVL IV, what get?
Now, I now what the consensus is about steel, but here is the thing, they're about the same price range BUT the steel LVL III+ is actually lighter than the ceramic IV.

I did that anon. I love both my AR and my ak but, when considering the logistics of it, having an AR as my primary made more sense. It uses the same round as our own military and is by far the most popular weapon in the U.S.

Logistics doesn't bother me as much as what the gun offers. My AR has a scope now and soon a flashlight, AK is plain jane, but aesthetically I love it
>>30373709

Thinking about saving up for a PVS-14 from TNVC next year, but otherwise I'm done besides the kangaroo pouch that is coming for my vest. May also upgrade the chinstrap for my helmet but I survived with the issued kit for years so I think it is fine. I don't see much of a need for any investment in any other area.
Would be cool to get a high cut helmet sometime though. I had a couple different ones but I couldn't sneak off with them when I got out. Don't know how I managed to keep my ACH and my plates.

>>30374032
The actual area coverage of those plates you're talking about is less than the norm for SAPI plates because they cut the corners (literally) to reduce weight. Also keep in mind that AR500 Armor, the company in question, had a recall of all level III steel plates manufactured in February and March or something recently, because they wouldn't even meet the basic NIJ III requirements. If they couldn't stop a 30 cal projectile at 2800 fps they definitely wouldn't stop a .223 at 3100 fps.
>>30373422
That's just not true. Happens all the time in CQB, as the one man you hit your corner, take a round in the back plate from a hostile in the opposite corner, then your 2 man services the threat. With back plate you'd be good to continue the mission, with no back armor the whole entry is fucked because now they have to get you out and call for a CASEVAC, if you aren't DRT.
Snagged the last Czech casualty mask off the /K/ store. The fact I can wear my glasses under the mask without discomfort/ fogging is a godsend.

Are there any guides to painting your own camo without using spraypaint and making shit that doesn't breathe breathe even less? I want to paint my tan vest for a savannah type enviornment and I'm not sure what pattern I'd need. Tan and green probably.

What do you guys think of a duty belt as a kind of gray-man battle belt? I'm thinking just a normal black duty belt with holster, two pistol mag pouches, a flashlight pouch, and MAYBE an AR mag pouch. Thoughts? Is it too black? Still too stand-outish?

It's not that bad for warm weather, those combat shirts breathe pretty nice. You're never going to be that cool wearing a PC, long sleeves, a pack and a rifle in the heat, but you shouldn't be overheating either. I'll probably rattle can my gun eventually the only thing holding me back is I feel I'll regret it once I do, but I guess paint thinner exists for a reason. You'd be surprised how much you can blend into the foliage without any camo at all. Also this >>30375982

So, should i get side plates for my pc?
>>30378308
It wouldn't hurt just to have them as an option, but being able to move is more important.
>>30378308
you could start with just a front and back plate and see how that works for you. I've found my side plates don't really add that much weight and don't hinder my ROM
Is there any reason for me NOT to get the midwest proguard iv over highcom 4s17m?
Only thing I'm finding is proguard is way cheaper, and highcom isn't sized right for some carriers.
Both are multicurve, nij 06, same weight, same construciton, why is midwest significantly cheaper when I'm pretty sure both plates are made by highcom?
>>30378009
It's funny how few people notice a full size gun belt. People generally notice my uniform and then my gun. Half the time they assume I'm an EMT until they see the gun on my side.
A few years back I had to road trip to WA and my friend didn't have a CCW for WA do he decided to OC, a lot of people we talked to either didn't notice, care, or were surprised when they finally noticed it (stuff like "Oh I thought that was illegal,").

What's considered a special threat for level 4? The Midwest doesn't say shit about it but both should be good til fudd 06 ap and I dont necessarily plan on facing anything harder. Videos show both stop m855.

And also does Midwest have a coupon out right now?
>>30378746
What drew you to those two plates in particular?
>>30378126
I suppose, I'm just curious as to what you do when you don't have much foliage at all to work with, see >>30376136
There are places with almost no grass for or shrubs for literally a few hundred miles. It makes concealment pretty much impossible it seems like, especially when you go with a desert pattern and come up upon a field of low shrubs/grass.
>>30378588
I've considered it, but it seems too much of a moisture sponge and snag hazard
>>30378907
Well im in the midwest so we dont have a lot of wide open plains other than farms, but I dont think a painted rifle is going to make the difference between concealment and standing out in a flat open environment.
>>30378927
Thats fair. You could also go the camo tape route, wouldnt be as heavy or snag prone while still being reversible.

That's not what he was referencing. Patrols accidentally walk into ambushes. He was referencing the ol' "WW1 officers regularly marched infantry into machineguns on purpose because they didn't know how to deal with them" meme.
Can someone explain to me the difference between a sapi style plate and a non sapi plate? I don't really see a difference in pics from Google or sites that sell plates. If I were to buy the plate in the link to fit the 10x12 pocket on the PC I want, would it matter if I got sapi or not? Does one offer more protection? Thanks in advance.

SAPI is sized differently and have different requirements. SAPI meets mil specs but not necessarily match up to NIJ. Most 10x12 meet NIJ specs and are roughly equivalent in size to large SAPI while being about 1" shorter.
SAPI is roughly equivalent to NIJ 3 while ESAPI is roughly NIJ 4.
>>30378433
If you need a different size
>>30379807
Most sapis are equivalent to medium, not large
>>30379878
Fuck I meant 10x12 are equivalent to medium
>>30379878
>>30379887
>SAPI L 10x13.25
>SAPI M 9.5x12.5
It could either way honestly. Call it a large short or medium wide.
Want battle belt
What get
>>30378433
HighCom commercial plates are actually slightly undersized from their listed 10 x 12 size. They are pretty much brought down to the same size as a military sapi, which is 9.5 x 12.5. This translates to these plates being able to fit a wider variety of carriers, which is a massive plus in my opinion.(My SDS RBAV will literally not fit any plates other than mil spec plates). I think there is also a 20% coupon floating around for HigCom.
>>30375983

>>30379723
No, good choice. It's a very adaptable holster.
>>30374553

>>30380210

Also have another question, and sorry, I'm pretty new to armor. Should I be concerned about the higjcom 4sas7 I was thinking of getting is only nij4 instead of nij6? Is nij6 worth the more or less $100 higher price tag? Thanks again.
>>30380477
I wasn't aware that NIJ went to lvl 6. Can you link me the plates you're looking at?
>>30380630
http://www.midwestarmor.com/body-armor/proguard-iv
I stumbled upon these plates which are nij6, but I have no idea if they are single curved etc, since it doesn't say. But they are cheaper at $150
http://highcomsecurity.com/collections/plates/products/guardian-4s17m?variant=20353441860
The nij6 plate from highcom. Over a hired dollars more but same rating and level. Not sure if i should get one of these, or go with the nij4 model 4sas7 plate, it's level 4 as well, and has more sizing/ curve options.
>>30380713
A hundred dollars*
>>30380477
No problem dude. NIJ .06 tests are much more rigorous than NIJ .04 I believe the NIJ .06 level IV test requires that the plates be shot more times than the NIJ 04 test. There are also changes to include water immersion tests and enrionmental cycling tests. The armor is even drop tested to condition the plate before the ballistic tests take place (NIJ .04 did not require this). I hope this helps you form your opinion.
>>30374712
that hoody looks comfy, wouldoperatein/10 where to buy one, or at least similar
>>30380630
>>30380713
I think you guys might have accidentally got the threat level rating (level 3,4) mixed have up with the standard designation (NIJ 04, 06). The standard translate to how rigorous the tests are. I posted some info above.
>>30378991
>VEPR KM
>finnish waffle mag
>>30380801
No I'm aware of the difference between the threat level rating and the nij rating. I just can't decide what to get. Sapi cut or shooters cut, nij4 or nij6, single or multiple curved, highcom or Midwest, etc. I never knew shopping for plates was such a hassle. Especially since some parts don't have the same size/ cut/ curve options as others.
>>30380265
>They're still lighter than lvl 3 steel unless you get the "lightweight"
Nope, I compared them. Maybe bulletproofme IV stuff is heavier than the norm, or AR500 LVL III+ is advertised as being lighter than it already is.
>>30380834
Oh, I didn't see the second half of your post. The midwest plate is most likely a single curve. If you are trying to decide between 04 and 06, I would base the decision on what kind of environment you would be using the armor in. If you are using it to be prepared and if they're going to be sitting in a closet except for the occasional range trip, I would chose 04. If you are going to be using them on a daily basis, I would chose 06. Also, triple curve makes a big difference in the comfort of the plates versus single curves. I have a pair of triple curve plates and they fit to the point that they feel much less bulky than my single curve plates which are about the same size and weight. There may be even a bigger difference in comfort if you have a larger frame. Lastly, shooter cut is also more comfortable than sapi cut in my opinion as I feel it gives me a bit more range of motion.
>>30380987
OK, thanks for the input friend. I'll mull it over and try to come to a decision.
>>30375674
Is that a repro FLC for ultrafatguy airsoft/painballers? You know, the paintball players with the 1500 dollar guns who don't run and are too fat to carry their pods on belts?
Or are you fucking miniature?
Also get some green RIT dye and soak that fucking UCP. Then splotch it with brown and black and tan and shit.
