What is a good 1911 that won't break the bank?
~$800 budget.

Did you just hear the word edgy recently or something?
>>30335260
> edgy
Do you know what that even means?
OP get a Colt, or a S&W.

>wanting a 1911

SA RO or loaded. of course, both are slightly above $800 but close enough to consider. both solid guns that even most 1911 fags can accept.

Fuck off. I'd rather a CZ clone like a Sphinx 3000 before I put money down on a G19.

On that note, I'm looking to buy my first ever handgun. My end goal is to own and be proficient with a 1911 .45, but I understand that's not a very good first handgun choice.
A few sources have told me to get a Glock 18 or 19 as my first pistol. tbqh they're ugly as fuck and I don't want one. Instead I was thinking of a Colt 1911 .22LR. I can use that to practice what it's like to operate a handgun, and at the same time train up to a full .45. What do you guys think?

A solid choice but for the love of fuck, don't buy a Colt. They are badly overpriced. There's tons of good .22 caliber 1911 clones out there.
>>30336402
If you want to learn the fundamentals first, then a .22 is a good idea.
A 1911 .22 is also a good idea since you plan to get one in .45 later.
So I say go for it.
>>30336402
dont fall for the .22 meme.
i did. wish i had spent the money on a real caliber.
beretta m9 or steyr m9 and a mossberg sp incoming in the next 2 weeks.
>fuck the 22 hype

Rock Island Armory has good cheap 1911s
Look up the reviews for the individual models on youtube yourself ya dingus
>>30335599
I'm actually glad I bought one of these now
Get a base Kimber and change out the mainspring housing for a Smith and Alexander one.
>>30335228
got myself a new Springfield MilSpec last Dec for about 760 after tax. Of course I went out and bought 4 wilson combat mags, so that drove the end price up, but I feel it was worth it vs the 7 round "mil spec" mags it came with.
>>30336856
Though S&W and Remington make good base models as well.
>>30335228
Ruger SR1911 ~ $500-700
>>30336856
Kimber is shit though.
>>30335599
DELET THIS
>>30335599
Yea its pretty reliable but still no match against modern firearms like the VP9. Also this guy seems to be some sort of 1911 fanboy.
>>30335228
Springfield.
Rock Island if you want something bare bones, cheap, but decent quality.
