Hey /k/ Figured I'd ask here, I'm working on my own game set in the Pacific Northwest, it's a post-apocalyptic first person shooter in the style of TLoU. I'm currently putting together a list of some commonplace guns for the setting to make some models off, but as someone not from the states I don't really know what guns people own in the area.
If you guys could come with some suggestions that'd be great, mostly civilian stuff that the "average" household would have tho, like bolt-actions rifles, shotguns or handguns.

For example, some model of Beretta PX4 comes up on a regular basis. It's not bad.

Keep in mind that the Pacific Northwest is a goddamned temperate rainforest. If you lose access to safe, dry spaces to store guns, anything not thoroughly rainproofed will be rusted garbage in a year or three. This means all your shiny blued guns will be hastily parkerized or left to die.

Well I'm doing this kind of game because it's what me and my buddies actually want to make, it's a genre we really enjoy but we don't think it's been done in the way we want it so far.
Also scripted story heavy cinematic games like Uncharted are the work of million dollar studios with hundreds of employees, it's a bit out of our league, AI is also annoying to work with imo.

I wouldn't mind if you put in a few rare firearms like the MAS 223 (Pre-Ban, semi auto FAMAS for civillian use, approximately 300-500 made it in the US). Keep in mind this is also the US, so feel free to provide NFA items (Select fire rifles, machine guns, destructive devices) as well as abandoned military weapons that were part of National Guard Armories.

Most of the webleys in America are not in 455. A great deal of the ones that were in 455 have been bubba'ed to 45 acp, and a good number of them are chambered in 38sw.

Anon, lots of people have semi auto "assault rifle" sporting rifles.
Use everything you can come up with just make it all semi auto only.
Also, bolt actions and pistols and shotguns and whatnot.

You should include a muzzle loader or two for the hell of it.
A .54 caliber Hawken would be a good option for a starting weapon, it would be balanced in that a 54 cal round ball will absolutely wreck any soft tissue it hits, but it takes half a minute to reload.
Also,soft lead round balls are easy as shit to cast, and you can make blackpowder by hand with just a trip to the pharmacy.

Take into mind you're thinking of place like Washington, Oregon, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, so lots of plains and forests that are fairly cold. Lot of ranchers probably got hunting rifles and stuff.

If its post apocalyptic, don't go for the shitty meme scenarios (disease, zombies, nukes, etc). Maybe some sort of Red Dawn-ish thing where you have to just escape from the city into the wilderness, and just go from there. Or an EMP goes off, and nothing electric can be used unless restored in some way.
OR have Yellowstone erupt. Now you have to survive the aftermath. That should be intersting!

I really like the Yellowstone idea.
Start on Day 1, every day the ash increases, clouds get darker, storms get more frequent, and you have to maintain a gas mask/air filtration system. You could build makeshift clean air environments or try to set up shop in places that aren't compromised, but may have to fight for the territory.

Oregon fag here, every list has the most popular options up top and the least popular on bottom, though none are uncommon. See lots of milsurp rifles in the gun shops around here. They fly off the racks, honestly. On top of that, I'd just go for regular fudd guns above all else. Ruger 10/22s are really prolific in this country, got a buddy with three of the fuckers, got one myself. Bolt action durr hunting rifles are about everywhere, plenty of pump shotguns too.
Dewd have it take place in a woodsy area such as belfair, shelton or the key peninsula. I have ALWAYS wanted to play a game that was based in these areas.
