In a shtf scenario what would be the most appropriate weapon platform for home/neighborhood defense? Considering that most houses are spaced very close to each other?

Lets say the main threat is armed bandits.

If only his cartoon had half the bantz of his twitter feed.

Anyways, AR-15 OP. Great for reaching out as needed (for neighborhood defense) and goes through house walls less than 9mm or buckshot unless you load it up with green tip.

did not know this, thanks anon!

Have a useful related link then: ar15.com/ammo/project/Self_Defense_Ammo_FAQ/index.htm

It's odd but from what I've found, both the really light (like 40gr) and really heavy (70+ gr) rounds are most likely to tumble in drywall. Google it, there's some other interesting research out there about ARs being only beaten by birdshot for overpenetration concerns.

His books are a million times better.

Not him, but I'm adamant about spreading this info:

The difference is especially severe with hollowpoints. Handgun rounds are much more likely to fill and become a normal bullet profile than 5.56/.223, which expands and deforms extremely consistently and reliably in comparison.

Mind, this is not to say that you missing your target won't still potentially end up with little Suzy next door catching a bullet in her sleep. It's just less likely.

The only option for making that a non-concern is birdshot, which has big problems in stopping a determined threat quickly/at all.

5.56 is best.

If shit honestly hits the fan, you're going to be using a lot of ammunition, and your neighbors will be the least of your concern.

Read his 90's collections.

Not really, because if you're engaging in hours-long gun battles using suppression and area fires, you're gonna be short-lived at any rate.
>>
>>30323046
One of the many reasons most SWAT teams switched from pistol caliber SMGs to 5.56 carbines. Also cost.

I have (if that's the original stuff), they were "eh" barring one or two strips.

A semi-automatic .308 rifle
>>
>>30323132
I think the issue is finite resources rather than how long you're fighting. If S has really HTF then all resources are limited and you won't be able to get more ammo, you use it and it's gone
>>
>weapon platform

A reliable rifle of your choice wielded by someone that knows how to use it, can run three miles in under 18 minutes, and can at least bench their bodyweight
>>
>>30322813
Oooohh... dis is my kinda thread right here boys!

I say a 1911 as a sidearm and any 5.56/7.62 variant will give you a solid defense. At least one shot gun wielder too.

if it's SHTF who gives a fuck about neighbors, .308 for armed baddies.

>>30323092
This was my reasoning behind getting a scar 16s. The proliferation of ammo alone

>posts arbitrary bullshit standards higher than what the military requires of infantry for somebody who'll be moving 50 yds max down a hallway or across a couple of backyards

Don't worry anon, I'm sure you'll do well in your hypothetical imaginary end of the world while you're huffing and puffing trying to make it up the stairs :^)

I'm not OP, I'm just here to say that your post was worthless. I'm more worried about the next time I'll fuck your mother than the end of the world.

>weapon platform

Clearly op wants an Abrams or other vehicle designed as a platform for smaller weaponry.
