Revolver thread!

Looking to get into revolvers. I like how the rugers look, but the trigger definitely isn't as nice as a similar s&w (gp100 vs 686 or super Redhawk vs 629). Should I get the ruger and wear the trigger in a bit to make it similar, or does that not really happen?

I'm looking for a .44 revolver to pair with my Marlin. I'm considering a S&W 629 (for DA) or a Ruger Super Blackhawk (for SA). Which type of revolver action do you prefer and why?

nigga, i shoot 3-400 rounds out of my revolver every time I go to the range...

whats up with the marker? once fired or something
>>
>>30314784
I'm an almost noguns, what do the red caps on those tips mean?
>>
>>30314563
DA because when shit gets real you can just pull the trigger and rock and roll and also I use exclusively semi-autos and DA revolvers so using a SA gun would require a lot of training to unlearn how I shoot guns.

Also 629 is sexier.

looks like a powder coat to me.

I reload them myself, cast my own lead bullets and powdercoat them red. The powdercoat allows you to drive lead bullets very fast without leading the barrel .
>>
>>30314802
misread your post. just marked the case heads on 200 new brass that I loaded without chamfering. There was a very slight shaving of powder coat during seating so I marked them and made a note on the ammo can to chamfer those once I shoot them.
>>
>>30314896
Heeey i was right about the powder coat.

There is an old man at my range who powder coats every bullet he casts John Deere green, and giggles every time he pulls out a new box.

Honestly my second favorite part of going to the range.

>>30314411
your the first to say they like the looks of rugers.

I only picked red because its only $5 a pound from harbor freight and it is the only color that works well when tumble coating. I own an electrostatic powder coat gun and can do other colors but I prefer to tumble coat mine.

little bit of 500 magnum sexyness for you all.

My revolvers.
>>
>>30314865
Good point. It would be an open carry gun so DA looks a lot more practical.
>>
>>30314931
I also like the look of the rugers. The fact they are built like tanks is a bonus.
>>
>>30315039
Those cast loads actually open up at all?
>>
>>30314828
It means 300% damage on Commies and Marxists.

up to about .975"

Lead bullets are rather fantastic for mushrooming.

Rather underestimated by most of the people on /k/ in my opinion.
>>
>>30315039
Mihec molds?
>>
>>30315249
I thought they were hard cast which are known for not deforming I've seen hard cast lead that could be reloaded and shot again
>>
>>30315424
Yeah, I believe so, some mold maker from croatia or some obscure ass eastern ass european country. I have a friend that sent me a handful to play around with. They are certainly a novelty load.
>>
>>30315509
You can pretty easily adjust your alloy for your purpose.

Hard cast can refer to a range of BH, but I would expect to see some deformation in them still.

Are derringers meme revolvers? What is the appeal in them outside of style?
>>
>>30315688

please tell me which part of these revolves, then decide if you have used the correct word.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derringer
>>
>>30315728
My mistake I did not use the correct word, im still very new to this.
>>
>>30315774
We good my man, but lurk moar.

Anyways, the only appeal of derringers was that they were very small. This is still the only real appeal of them besides style or novelty. Now there are automatics the same size if you want a pocket sized gun to concealed carry. Snub nose revolvers also fill that category.
>>
>>30315869
Yeah I didnt notice the guide in the sticky so im probably gonna focus on that for a bit.

>Now there are automatics the same size if you want a pocket sized gun to concealed carry. Snub nose revolvers also fill that category.

Ah given how restricted handguns are here I didnt even think of that as a possibility. I just saw chunky 2 shot pistols with no trigger guards.
