What are some firearms that you might hypothetically own that might theoretically be not entirely ATF compliant? Hypothetically, I might have found a 19' shotgun in the run down shed in my backyard when I was moving in. Theoretically, of course, it is still sitting in my closet and I have not shot it to this day. Pic not related. If it does exist, it has tape all over the end of the stock and is rusted to shot having been in a hot shed with tons of liquids for a couple years. Some old Standard model made in god knows when.
>>
BTW my dog is also hypothetical so please don't shoot it ATF
>>
>>30306367
get a new stock/barrel or whatever is hypothetically wrong with it and just theoretically say that you got it in a private sale in the 90s
>>

If you did actually own this hypothetical sawn off shotgun your dog would be shot. But thankfully you are a good Servant of the US Government and wouldnt do such a thing

They used it to fling planes, actually. Even today, most carriers have a catapult system for launching planes.

How powerful is the Catapult?

Could it fling Barrel Bombs? If so, how far?

Further than Donkey Kong but not as far as if the German's had deigned it to fling barrel bombs.

19" is fine, it's getting into hot water if the barrel is below 18"

>>30307451
You can get a 14" which isn't regarded as an NFA item.
>>
>>30308639
How is 14" not an SBS?
>>
>>30306367
A 19' shotgun? Sounds like one of those old fashioned punt guns. Is it in 2 bore or 4? That's one hell of a gun OP, I'm impressed
>>
>>30309056
Overall length over 26", barrel under 18" & never had a stock. It's considered a "firearm" since it does not legally fall into any other category

Because the ATF is autistic.

You can buy these in stores right now without special paperwork like any regular shotgun, if you put a birds heads grip on your unregistered SBS, why, it would appear that it's just been a generic "Firearm" all along

I think, just to be safe, I'd go buy a new Mossberg 500 that comes from the factory with a pistol grip installed and keep the receipts and box. That way they can't fuck you.

They'd have to prove that the gun had a stock and <18" at the same time.

Doesn't matter if the barrel is hacksawed or factory, as long as the gun is 26" OAL, and doesn't feature a stock, it's just a Firearm, not an SBS, likewise, you can put a carbine kit on a handgun as long as it isn't SBR length, and then restore it to pistol configuration.

You could, however, buy a Mossberg or Remington shotgun in this 26" config, and then put a regular length barrel on your unregistered SBS, and nobody will ever know.
If there's no evidence, they can't convict you, and now you have TWO shotguns for different purposes, seems like the smarter decision to me.

I figure a 14" barrel shotgun would still perform well enough with some wax-slugs, if you want to ghetto it, so that's not a terrible HD gun if you can handle shooting one.
The Mossberg comes with a hand-strap on the pump-slide, which seems like it would make it easier to handle (and you'd think this would be a standard feature on these little blasters, so that newbie fools don't whip themselves in the face when shooting slugs)

Seeing as that SBS's are AOW's, any other weapons, the tax stamp for one is only $5.
Theoretically, which one is better? Years in prison and a massive fine, while having your right to own any firearms stripped away, or paying $5 and waiting a few months?
>>
>>30314275
Transfer of AOWs is $5, manufacture is still $200.
SBS is objectively superior.

You mean $200 +paying to setup a trust + waiting months over an arbitrary definition of a length of metal tubing that is as deadly as any other metal tubing?

Then again 10 years in prison would suck.

It'd be nice if they learned about guns instead of new and exciting ways to shoot dogs.

Gunshops.
Or order the parts online for an existing gun and assemble your gun accordingly, without having the stock attached at the same time as the short barrel.

Because your wrists are your enemy and they must be destroyed.
>>
>>30315501
I was thinking about that too, couldn't posisbly be easy on the arm
>>
>>30315483
It's the same OAL as a PGO shotgun, so there's really no point other than funsies.
>>
>>30315483
Mainly for fun, unless you feel you handle a shorty shotgun without a stock better than a shotgun with a real stock.

I'd put a laser on it if I was gonna use it for HD
But then, it wouldn't really be my No.1 choice for HD.

>>30315512
>>30315501
Then don't shoot a lot of slugs and highbrass buck if that shit bothers you, birdshot and turkey shot will still work in this thing,
>>
>>30315483

Fun and packable. I've been thinking about making another one with a black aces tactical receiver for maximum fun.
>>
>>30306367
if this theoretical gun is stolen, it's illegal. if it was just found, you can choose to search SCMODS for a matching stolen serial, or you can play dumb and risk it on a maybe $200 long arm? 18/18.5" depending on the time of year is the atf minimum length for a non-nfa shotgun barrel. so you can replace the stock with whatever you want, but dont cut the barrel.

just how much rust is on it?

>>30315483
it would make a great breaching gun, esp with a sling plate or qd point in the grip. if you were crazy enough to give it a reflex sight you could do some damage with slugs. they are not hard to handle
>>
You can't replace the barrel in a Hi Standard easily. They're threaded in.
>>
>>30312492
test piece made by KAC, it was used with a steadicam rig and designed to use a backpack ammo box when the soldier was dismounted.

I believe the idea was just to experiment with ergonomics.
>>
>>30306367
I may have thought about replacing the fire control group of my AR with a burst kit, sans sear.
I want to believe that it would be a very, exceedingly light trigger, somewhat akin to using something in a near-burst mode, but I have not necessarily been able to convince myself (after my musings) that it was a good idea. I also have no concrete evidence of this. That I know of.
>>
>>30316532
>test piece made by KAC
I'm almost certain half the idea was "this would be cool and funny to show off at ShotShow and other places"
