Did KAC disconinue their quad rails? I'm stuck in the mid 2000s and I detest this newfangled keymod freefloat shit.
>>
You detest having a more accurate rifle?

Also, you can still get MI and DD drop in rails that are just as good if not better than the old KAC stuff.
>>
The entire rail, yeah, they don't sell them anymore however they do sell rail cover panels that make it pretty much the same.

They turn up at gunshows from time to time. Some are new.

>>
>>30298009
I always felt like freefloat rails were less sturdy. I'm sure they're fine but I just prefer having the rail held on in two places instead of one. Also I'm not really shooting anywhere where accuracy to that degree matters.

Stay strong. They are plentiful on the secondary market, and KAC does do periodic production runs for some models still every now and then.

If you are feeling fancy you can still track down some 2004 Shot Show Special RAS II delta ring free floats like on my SBR.
>>
>>30298061
Any decent rail, like a Geissele MK8, is going to be sturdy as fuck. Better than a fucking two piece drop in rail that pops off when you hit the deck to dodge Allah's Chosen Childrens' Prayer Guided Infadel Removers.
>>
>>30298149
I do have some FF rails I like, but even those seem to be going away in favor of things like M-LOK and keymod
>>
>>30298187
Yeah, because those systems (especially m-lok) allow for a much lighter handguard while retaining rigidity. There is a reason why things are moving that way, and not just because shit looks cool.
>>
>>30298149
>Better than a fucking two piece drop in rail that pops off when you hit the deck
This is not possible. Not even a drop-in shill, just saying that's retarded.
>>
>>30298225
Mounting things requires more parts. More parts means more things that can break.
>>
>>30298330
And you can replace modular rail ladders, whereas you have to replace the whole rail in a quad rail
>>
>>30298253
The lower section of a KAC drop in can absolutely do that, and has done that to me once.

>>30298330
M-lok is secure as fuck. Do some research if you're interested but I'm not going to try and sway someone with fudd mentality.
>>
>>30297993
they're around.

Should be a small market at least for them. Everyone likes to build clones of various age miliatry rifles.

I want to build an a4 clone , a4 clone on a carbine upper (2005ish i believe), a2 clone the army had with the carryhandle forward mount for the aimpoint, shieeeet i just want to build clones.
>>
>>30298330
Also I should add, by removing the delta ring, handguard cap, and associated parts your are dropping the parts count by adding a free float rail. If you want to think about it in that way.
>>
>>30298397
It's not just that. It's just I prefer the classic "M4" look the same way some people prefer retro ARs

You can find some Kac carbine ras rails on ebay. I too want something like pic, until my dumbass bought a 16 inch midlength instead of a 14.5 carbine

I'll probably buy a beat to fuck kac rail and colt carry handle

I totally understand preferring the aesthetic but it sounded like you liked drop in rails because they are somehow better. I dig the M4gery look and I plan to build one someday, probably out of a Colt 6920.
>>
>>30298568
That's what I'm planning too. Except for the lack of drop in KAC rail.

I could always fork over $1,700 for an FN-15.

Actually I can't because I'm not that rich.
>>
>>30298616
>Except for the lack of drop in KAC rail

Dude, they are all over ebay and forum classifieds like arfcom or m4c EE.
>>
>>30298565
Let me ask you a question. If you took the A2 sight off and replaced it with a low profile gas block, would the rail still be held in place?

If you have a lo profile block designed to accommodate the handguard cap it will. an easier solution is to just grind the sight off of the block already there. You can even do it on the weapon still.
>>
>>30298678
Yes, if you still have the handguard retainer on the lo pro block. The m4 ras is not free float.

Exactly
>>
>>30298723
Just make sure the rear seating for the barrel shoulder is short enough to accommodate a handguard cap.

If they don't advertise it, call the manufacturer and ask.

>>30298737
Of the drop-in quads, the KAC are certainly on the better to best end of the spectrum with their additional clamping on the barrel nut not just counting on the delta ring to secure them.
>>
>>30298225
So this may be better off in an AR general, but is there a consensus on what would be the better choice to go with a m-lok rail or keymod?
>>
>>30298983
M-lok is where the industry is slowly shifting. It is a little more of a bitch to attach shit to the handguard, but once it is on there it is REALLY on there. Like, good luck knocking that shit off. I prefer it myself. I also happen to think it looks better.

Keymod is good too though and all the big manufacturers offer keymod stuff. Just do your research.

holy fuck $22 for a piece of plastic, shit that is overpriced... any alternatives that provide same type of cover for less? That price just seems retarded to the max
>>
>>30299076
Ebay. You can buy a surplus rail cover kit and KAC foregrip for cheap.
>>
>>30299088

thanks for heads up.

Is the 11 rib plastic cover the standard size that covers a carbine length railed handguard?
>>
>>30298565

what optic + mount is that exactly?
>>
>>30299041
Colt/Diemaco's new MMR are fitted with M-LOK as it was a "preference among Colt Canada’s LEO and military customers. However, additional performance metrics such as tear-off strength and ease of manufacture were also taken into account."
>>
>>30298565

what vertical grip is that?
>>
>>30299186
It's the KAC foregrip that's standard issue. You can still buy those. Bretty gud, would recommend.
>>
>>30299132

I had a surefire light and foregrip on my rail, and I dove behind cover and the fucking thing broke off. Stuffed it in my cargo pocket and kept shooting. It was my issued KAC rail.

ebay will score you a used one that likely wandered out of an armory for at least $100 less.

My ebay one came with the fully deployment cover kit with multiple cover sizes and vfg.

Maybe KAC's mobile site is shit
