The launching unit has a camera that tracks the IR light coming out of the TOW missile (iirc it has a special sort of flare at the end, it does not track the rocket motor itself). It detects how far away the missile is from the cameras center and tells the missile which way it has to move so that it's back in the center.
The Shtora now basically blinds the launch units camera so that it cannot tell anymore where the missile is.

Current iteration of TOW missile has top attack capability, radio-guided SACLOS (instead of wire or laser), thermal camera on it's launcher and with larger, tandem warhead missile.
Laymen will call any ATGM as TOW, even though they're either Iran or Chinese copy of older TOW model or even unrelated system such as Kornet.

There are alot of them in syria and with this quality it is very hard if not impossible to be able to say exactly what model it is my shitposting friend. The videos before it were significantly better and im still waiting for my flying turret in one of these "T-90" videos.
We cant see what ERA it have, if it is a T-90A, if it have shotora, if it have a commanders remote MG or a meteriological mast. There are even T-72B's in syria and local modified T-72's with their own weird stuff.

How Shtora works is that it spoofs the missile guidance system into sending wrong instructions to the missile.
SACLOS (Semi-Active Command Line-Of-Sight) missiles work by having the command unit give flight instructions to the missile. The missile itself has a flare on the ass of the missile that allows the command unit to track the missile. When you see a TOW video from syria, the light from the missile is not the rocket motors, it's the flare. The rocket motors are the two dimmer jets you see coming out the side briefly.
The command unit sends instructions to the missile to keep the flare in the center of the crosshair. One part of Shtora is two huge IR lamps that that confuse the command unit into thinking that they are the missile flare. Theoretically, that causes the command unit to send bullshit flight commands to the missile and cause it to fly off because the command unit thinks the missile is where the Shtora lamps are when it's not.
This doesn't work against TOW-2 because TOW-2 has a modulated flare that flashes at a unique frequency that only the command unit knows. Shtora doesn't flash at that frequency and the command unit ignores it.
The other part of Shtora deals with laser guided missiles and laser rangefinders. It's comprised of multiple receivers around the turret that detect incoming lasers, and can either automatically slew the turret to face the laser and let the commander see what is going on. Pop smoke to block the laser, or both.

Well, it isn't.
The active-passive part of Shtora requires a laser rangefinder to alert the T-90 crew of danger and pivot the turret and IR jammers towards the threat.
Because the oldish launchers US State Department hands out to the sand niggers to effect their foreign policy objectives against Syria, the Shtora is not effective against these missiles.
So they have to pray that the ERA will protect the tank.
The video cuts off right after the tank get hits. Rebels almost always film the cook off. Therefore the ERA works.

Both the T-72 and T-90 have dual axis stabilizers.
If the gun isn't stabilized it's because the system is switched off.
I'd say it's more likely than not a T-90 though because the commander's AA gun is facing forwards, meaning it's probably either a TKN-4 or a TKN-3 but the commander is looking to the rear.
