X54r is so boring and a drag, I prefer 44 magnum

>no irons, only optic
What was so hard about making it still retain the looks and function of the base nugget?
>>30214719
Sleep well noble soldier. Your sacrifice won't be forgotten.
>>30214745
The barrel would have been too thick, and the wood too brittle after being widened. I elected to keep it weighted as such, and putting a forward optic knowing the limitations of the cartridge.
That said, the rifle was horribly sporterized and in terrible condition before I even got my hands on it. So I gave it a second life
>>30214719
all that money and trouble, and you still have to do a scout mount scope.....
>>30214770
>>30214787
With what I had to put into it, and parts, only set me back about a buck twenty five. Machining out the magazine components and getting the bolt to function superfluously was the hardest part.

All that's left to do is find a decent optic and I a good conversation piece and hog stopper.

Cool deal. Now thread it. You know it's the right thing to do

>FS CUSTOM MOSEN NUGANT SCOUT RIFLE IN 44 MAG
>ASKIN 1500 NO LOW BALLER AND NO NIGGERS
>>30215329
Gives me a De Lisle sort of vibe
>>30215373
If I could make $1500 on, it'd be nearly thirteen hundred ahead
>>30214719
Boring and drag is what you do all day.
>>30215721
Can you even afford a nugget?
Oh no you didn't sporterize a Finnish Capture did you
>>30216147
It was a chopped down barrel $50 Russian 38 carbine.
Either strip it down for parts, or rebuild it. I chose the latter.
>>30216193
Yea but did it have a SA or D mark because even chopped down could have been worth a lot of money. Hell if the stock wasn't cut down it would have been worth a lot since it looks like an early model 38 stock which are hard to find.
>>30216219
I'm very big on keeping military guns stock, but the stock of this rifle was already bubba'd and the crown/barrel and bayonet fucked up beyond all repair. There was no Finnish marking. It was all Russian and the rust and pitting on the receiver so bad, I just cerakoted it black and did what I could.
I took inspiration from people that had done crazy things like rebarrel their guns in 45/70. Way too much chamber pressure in my opinion, so I chose .44 as a safe alternative.
>>30216256
basically I'm a better bubba than the last guy that fucked it up. I put very little money into it, mostly time and found it to an interesting project.
>>30216273
Looks good imo. I would have a blast shooting that bad boy. let the hate flow
>>30214867
How many rounds does it hold? Still 5?
>>30216336
Three
>>30216354
Doesn't seem like a bad rig for blatting small game.
>>30216368
That's what I figured. I did away with iron sights, and went with a scout style set up because I figured I'll be effective at under 75 yards. It isn't a tackdriver, but in the brush it'll be good.
>>30214809
>Superfluously
I don't think you know what that word means
>>30216405
It's a shame that pistol caliber bolt actions are a rarity, honestly.
>>30216420
To be superfluous means to be more than enough for a required task, and an exaggeration of my testing. Getting a bolt meant for 7.62x54r to work with 10.9×33mmR takes a bit of messing around. Even when I knew it would function, it wasn't enough, I wanted the bolt to turn like butter, as though it were still in the original chambering, but with solid lockup too.
>>30216436
I agree, I've heard good things about the Ruger rotary magazine .357, I might pick one up

Shit that never happens
