Just in Berlin, I've seen lots of surplus being sold but I think that it is expensive because it's for tourists.
Go to surplus/military stores. Even here in Switzerland I found a lot of NVA gear in these stores except precious things like helmets (M56) or officer stuff.

Yeah, I bought some NVA caps and such in Berlin. Quite expensive. The NVA canteen is still the worst piece of hardware i own, literally unusable. Any tips on finding official surplus stores, do they even exist? My only experience is with Serbian military "junkyards" that sell used military equipment.

Did you guys go to that surplus store on Danzigerstr./Schliemannstr. near the Prenzlauer Allee S-Bahn? I lived near it for a year and got some pretty good deals, 75ish euros for a Wehrmacht E-tool, forage cap, and Soviet officers cap. I would've haggled but was in a rush. It's the place with a bunch of milsurp bags and grenade crates out front? Another good place for NVA stuff is VEB Orange, the guy gets huge lots of old DDR crap and sometimes doesn't know how much it's worth-I got a mess tin for about 1/3 the price I saw elsewhere .It's right near Mauerpark.

I live in the UK where Warsaw Pact milsurp is either really rare and expensive or some shitty reproduction.
I have to go home to Bulgaria to find real stuff, plus if you look in the right places you can get some pretty great deals. I bought a whole paratroopers uniform for around £50 (so like $65-70)
