Why doesn't the US military keep multiple camos for multiple environments on hand? Pic unrelated

They may charge soldiers for uniforms, but you still have to provide nearly 1 million armored vest and etc. in whatever special snowflake camo they dream up
>>
>>30189950
then they wouldn't have money for new fancy dress uniforms
>>
>>30189950
They do have multiple uniform types.

Multicam or solid brown is a good solution for OCIE which takes longer to replace than a uniform.

Someone isnt familiar with engineered garments, that luxurious comfort.

better question

why is the US Army completely incapable of making a dress uniform that doesn't look like shit
>>
>>30190036
because Hugo Boss doesnt design them
>>
>>30190036
The greens were good, some General or their wive had a massive hardon for civil war union uniforms and that's why the new dress uniform looks like a pile of garbage that was vomited on by a long line of drunk transients.

They're all used by different branches AND some are only used by SF

>>
>>30191998
Big Army gets to use Multicam while depolyed, and it's perfectly adequate.

Yes they're used by different branches, but each base is covered.

Navy doesn't need camo.

Marines get their desert camo, and a woodland that doubles well as a transitional pattern similar to multicam.

Army is lacking in it's departments, but Multicam works well enough for what they're fighting in, and if they really had to, there's enough stock of old woodland and desert camo in storage to cover the bases.
>>
>>30191998
Are you retarded?
>>
>>30189950
the primary reason is that the pentagon labors under the delusion that one size/camo pattern can actually fit all circumstances. This delusion was born from McNamara and his bean counters during the Vietnam war and has not changed and likely will not change until we have another total all out war like WWII which will have to be fought in many different environments under many different conditions and will require many solutions to problems, and will also give pentagon staff pukes something better to do with their time than play golf and suck on political/contractor dick

Big Army Authorized Multicam and the OCP for garrison wear as well as retaining UCP. Of course thats only until 2019.

>Navy doesn't need camo.

A few people like SEALS, SWCC, etc. still need camo. Navy has their own, but it's just MARPAT desert and MARPAT woodland with the palettes tweaked and the Marine logos replaced with Navy logos.

I'm all for esprit de corps and all that stuff, but it still seems like a waste for the Navy to have these when MARPAT already exists.

>>
>>30189950
Because scorpion II makes you 100% invisible in 100% of environments
>>
>>30189972
How about making some sort of cheap-ass cover for the armor?
>>
>>30196080
They actually thought about this when switching from UCP to Scorpion/OCP. It was seen as more trouble than what it's worth. Army has also tried to develop a camo pattern that will be compatible with any forseeable camo uniforms instead of taking the flat color route. Reason being a single flat color like the Marines are using kinda means you're basically wearing a solid color uniform anyway since the armor will cover a lot of the body leaving your arms, legs and helmet the only thing that's actually camouflaged.
>>
>>30192090
When has USMC woodland doubled as a transitional pattern? It's just woodland and specifically brown woodland because you go anywhere else with light colored heavy vegetation and you stick out.
>>
>>30190085
Sure are comfy though.

You are dumb as fuck please look at how many camo patterns we have.

Army:
OCP
UCP
Multicam

Marines:
Marpat desert
Marpat woodland
M81 woodland

Navy:
Aor1
Aor2
Blue digigayness

Airforce:
ABU
Multicam

You think marsoc doesn't realize they are in a desert? They wear that cuz they can and they are hipsters.
>>
>>30200449
Not him, but that photo clearly has a heavy desaturation filter on it. Not the best example for autistic camo arguments.

Dude is in MARSOC, might as well be a airshitter compared to real SF. Raiders try too hard to be something they're not.

As far as woodland patterns go, MARPAT is one of the best for brown and tan areas. The pattern itself is brown dominant.
>>
>>30189972
They did it with interceptor armour.
>>
>>30192099
Take those dubs and shove them up your ass, fag.
>>
>>30192090
It's FUCKING STUPID for the Marines and the army to be using two different camouflage patterns.

The navy has a blue version of MARPAT.

The air force has custom made "sage" boots and digitized tiger stripe made only for them.

There is absolutely no reason for anything else besides MARPAT, its desert version and a winter pattern.
>>
>>30194260
The marines are so fucking gay now.

They were supposed to be special because they did great things with the same tools everyone else had.

Now, they do the same shit as the army with overpriced equipment that only makes them feel "special."
>>
>>30195060

Are they using camouflaged fabric to make the inside of the sleeves too now?
>>

>not wearing baby blue in the ocean
Are you trying to get shot?
>>
>>30191913
why is that plate carrier so tiny? seems to be 1/3 the size of what marine infantry uses.
>>
>>30191913
also wasn't that unprotected gut area known as guaranteed death area during ww2? meaning that soldiers shot in that area of the body couldn't be helped / wouldn't survive.
>>
>>30200983
>>
>>30203477
You understand how a plate carrier works, right? All of the protection comes from the plates. More or less cloth material does not impart more or less protection.

A full armor carrier vest is larger, but it is also two or three times as heavy, and it doesn't provide more protection against rifles.

>Medical technology has advanced in 70 years.

Jeezus, it's like you don't stop and think about how equipment is used.

Because even if you didn't bleed to death, your intestines would probably be fucked up and you would end up getting sepsis from all the shit leaking out into your body. Plus surgery wasn't as good, so your bowels would end up a mess and you would just die slowly and painfully.

Nowadays medicine has advanced a lot. If your guts are all fucked up they'll just remove the bulk of the damaged intestine, pump you full of strong antibiotics to fight any infection, and you'll end up with short bowel syndrome and probably have to use a colostomy bag for the rest of your life.
