Hey /k/, my mom almost got robbed by a pillhead (NWI) and I got to thinking that I dont want to keep some of the more expensive/have sentimental/historical guns in my car with the risk of them getting stolen/confiscated.

So Im thinking maybe get a handgat that costs under 250 I can leave loaded in my glovebox or under my seat most of the time and occasionally plink with, and have a cheap concealment hoslter on it so if Im in a sketcy area I can throw it inside the waistband

Im looking at the armscor m206. Any /k/ommandos have any experience with this gun? Also in the running is the Zastava M88 I could trade a buddy for, or a hungarian PA-63(I already own a makarov and stock ammo for it)

And any other suggestions for a gun under $250?

i wish you neckbeeards would buy these m206s like you buy the 1911s.

I really need more anecdotes and youtube reviews to get one of these.

Someone be the guinea pig.

Ruger P-Series. You can usually find them for ~200-300, they are very reliable and you can get quality Mec-Gar mags in that pattern.

Just remember that P85s take a slightly different pattern than the P89s and P95s do. Also P90, P97 or P345 if you like .45 ACP and P944 if you like .40S&W. IMO P89 and P95 is where it's at.

In all seriousness though i have an m206 and it is a little uncomfortable to shoot with original grips. I hade mine cerakoted a while back and now the trigger slams forward shooting single action. That and when i was having trouble with the hammer i was dry firing the hell out of it and now have light strikes. It shot a little to the left and is only going to be good for point blank shooting.

Are they reliable? Do you get any issues with timing and lockup? Hammer pushoff? Are they accurate? Would you trust it to shoot a Junkie at 3-5 yards in a parking lot? Should I just get the DAO model instead?

Fuck the haters who have never shot one, the Taurus PT111 G2 is great. So far about 1200 rounds so far, only issue I've had is that it doesnt like feeding HydraShoks, but all the hornady I've ran through it did fine
>>
>cheap truck gun you're not worried about getting lost in police evidence hell
This is exactly why i have a hipoint.

Can you get 3 fingers on that bitch? Any safety
issues?

Yes, I can get a full grip on it. Grip length with mag is the same as a Glock 19, barrel length is the same as a Glock 26.

No safety issues on mine, and every review of the G2 I've watched or read had nothing bad to say about it.
>>
>>30180237
>Are they reliable?
Yes
>Do you get any issues with timing and lockup?
No
>Hammer pushoff?
None at all
>Are they accurate?
Its a 2" snub with steel sights, that doesnt make it super accurate. I use the wood grips because I cant stand the rubber grips that it also includes. I bet you would shoot it a lot better with the rubber grips
>Would you trust it to shoot a Junkie at 3-5 yards in a parking lot?
Sure. Its accurate enough to hit a man at 3-5 yards. I wouldnt carry it because its sort of heavy for what it is.
>Should I just get the DAO model instead?
Having handled one I would say no. Its just the standard model with the hammer filed off and smoothed over. If you want that in the future you can easily have a smith fix that.

Internally it is basically an overseas produced colt cobra. It takes HKS speedloaders model DS (detectives special)
>>
>>30180292
And I might add that I trust it enough to EDC it. Rear sights are also fully adjustable, which isn't so common in sub $400 dollar sub compacts

Only gripe I have is that it has a safety.
>>
>>30180367
Hmmm seems like I might have to take a look at those.
>>
>>30180367
9mm cost and bullet selection and 12+1 capacity makes this seem like a pretty damned good little gun.

Anyone have any good ideas of 9mm loads that get at least 12" of penetration out of a short barrel like that?
>>
>>30180216
Buy a p64 nigga.
>>
>>30180087
>Im looking at the armscor m206. Any /k/ommandos have any experience with this gun?
I've handled the one with the longer barrel. It felt alright. The single action trigger surprised me by how much it didn't suck. The double action pull might be one of the worst triggers I've ever felt though. I almost bought it, but I decided not to. I still might pick one up in the future.
>>
Bump.

Anyone ever shoot an M88?
>>
Check out the SD9VE. I don't know if it was this pistol or another S&W but I know Glock sued them for it.

It's pretty reliable and great for $300.
>>
>>30180087
Try and find a miroku liberty chief. It's a blend of a colt detective special and s&w model 60, and they're pretty good. I have one and I love it, traded a shitty taurus for it

I keep a .44 bulldog in my glove box
>just cheap enough where I wouldn't car if it gets stolen or taken into evidence
>still good enough that I practice with it and trust my life with it
>along with my automatic ccw, Ii have a revolver near me so best of both worlds
>if some ballsy mother fucker gets in my car and im struggling with him a revolver wont jam as easily as an auto

I keep saying ill switch it out but im lazy and it works so I probably wont

They're a functional gun. Double action trigger is on the sucky side. Single action is better that alot of Smiths and most Rugers I've shot. No idea why but thats my experiece. Pic related is my M200.

Why haven't you guys spent $5000 on a custom compact race gun to carry? Don't you value your life?
>>
>>30180252
Look man I get where your coming from and I've shot a few Taurus guns that I really liked. Its not that the designs are bad or that they feel bad or shoot like shit. Its that it's a fucking gamble. If they could get their shit together and clamp down on the qc (which has supposedly improved within the last decade, while the pt series seems to be worsening likely due to old tooling) then they would have some great products.

Every manufacturer has bad runs and lemons but Taurus is like a nonfunctional alcoholic

It's worth noting that the safety is frame mounted, but it also has a trigger safety like a Glock. Presumably you could just rely on the trigger safety.

I like mine. It's very thin for a double stack.

Just buy a p64 from aim surplus instead.

$200 for a way better firearm.
>>
>>30180116
this. I wasted 40 minutes of my life watching two guys doing long ass 20 minute reviews and didn't learn shit because they didn't shoot the damned things

And those were like the only 2 reviews I could find. All other "shooting reviews" are shakycam footage with left hand holding the phone and right hand shooting offhand.

Looks like it feels nice in the hand though, wood grips give me wood (much better I think in these snubnoses than the polymer grips that are thicker than the thighs on my ex-gf, which is to say very large), and it's pretty cheap.

Someone be the guinea pig damn it
>>
>>30180346
Exactly what we needed to know, thanks anon
>>
>>30180174
If it was a rebounding hammer safety you might have damaged the mechanism by dry firing, m8. Doesn't really excuse it having light strikes but it might be good to know if you ever want to repair it.
>>
I have not shot one but I finger fucked a 206 and a lgs.

They are fucking rough. Like, tool marks and sharp edges. They might work ok but they are so fucking rough.

I was going to get one for a car gun.I want a cheap throw away gun for emergency car use. After messing with one u have moved on to maybe a sw SVE or a ruger American. Both can be found online for as little as 300 bucks.

>>30180128
SR and SR-C are also not too expensive and very reliable.
