Power tools feel pretty different than guns.
I do it with anything that has a trigger, sometimes knives, and have started keeping my finger off the trigger of a controller or a mouse.

I think it's a good thing to do, regardless of what it is. If it's that subconscious you do it with power-tools (which I would argue is equally important to do with as well), probably means you are paying strict attention to that stuff in general.
We may all be autistic, but I don't think in principle not wanting to activate whatever tool you are holding is.

I don't ever have anything but perfect TD with guns, but things that are not guns don't get treated like them unless there's a solid reason to keep my finger away from the trigger.

I TD my 22 at the range. I've gone twice now.
My buddies who got me into shooting don't. They've been doing it for 5-6 years now. They defend it by saying it's unloaded. To be fair, it always is, it's only ever loaded when the range is hot, as the RO will only make the range cold when he personally checks each gun on the line, but it's still a bad habit.
