I'm looking for a small concealed carry pistol. I was thinking of the Ruger LC9 with a belt clip.

Seems small enough and easy enough to carry. That, and I already own a couple 9mm's so i wouldn't need to get a new type of ammunition.

What does /k/ think?

>>30178769
Let me shit on that opinion real quick son. You're gonna get raped and your gonna learn to like it with how often it'll happen when you own that gun, it'll fail at the most needed time everytime. Get a real man weapon, like a 1911 dweeb
I bet you're from California, faggot.

(a) the LC9 is shit. I bought one off a guy whose wife didn't like it for $100 because why not, and I regret this decision.
(b) A belt clip is not a holster. You need a holster that will cover the trigger.

The LC9s is a little better, but the trigger is still solidly "not great".

If you're hung up on 9mm, then consider the CM9, PM9, and PF9. Otherwise we can move on down to 380 with some nice JHP. The LCP is available pretty often for $199, and the Custom for $220 pretty regularly.

I lile the SR9C better, but I am biased because I had the SR9 first.

If you want a gun that tries to jump out of your hand every time you fire a round and you want to have to be conscious of that, go for it. The grip is retardedly small for any male.
>>
>>30178841
>>30178876
Okay, didn't know about the LC9S. I'll be looking at those.

As for the "clip isn't a holster"; I would have it either with a round in the chamber, with safety on. oooor no round in the chamber, and not buy a model with a safety.

CZ 2075 Rami if you want a DA/SA

Glock 43 if you like striker fired

S&W Shield 9mm if you don't like glocks

Sig P238 if you want a tiny ass gun and don't mind 380
>>
>>30178957
I forgot to add that the LC9 has a horrendous trigger pull, and I've spoken with plenty of people that are great shots, but can't hit shit, relatively speaking, using the lc9

M&P SHIELD 9M(new one without safety)

This is not debatable.

Why are you averse to doing things correctly? Concealed carry has been hammered out over two centuries.

M&P 9c or Glock 26.

the trigger on an lcp is so goddamn long a belt clip will suffice. depending on what im wearing ill either pocket holster, iwb or just use the clip. the trigger isnt going to get snagged on anything inside your waist band.

the lc9s trigger is great

What's wrong with having a safety? I especially want one on my CC so I can have a round chambered and ready to go with the flick of my thumb.

Please tell me why no safety is better? If you keep a bullet chambered without a safety that's foolish and asking for a chunk of ass to get shot off.

This is incorrect if you are using any not-shit firearm and keep it in a proper holster.

>What's wrong with having a safety?
Another way that Murphy can fuck you. Even among people who have practiced with as part of their draw, not disengaging the safety is the most common reason for failing a course of fire/exercise among people who use guns with safeties.

>inb4 "well just don't use the safety then"
>see: Murphy
>>
>>30180937
Sounds like you're not training correctly then. If a millimeter movement of your thumb, is too time consuming in your draw, then practice more. It's very unsafe to keep a loaded gun (one in the chamber) on your hip without a failsafe. You'll end up being another number added to the statistics, I guarantee it.

>It's very unsafe to keep a loaded gun (one in the chamber) on your hip without a failsafe.
Not if the gun in in a holster that covers the trigger.
Glocks don't have external safeties, and neither do DA revolvers. Their safeties are internal and are disabled as the trigger is pulled and held back. Unless the trigger is pulled there's no way for the firing pin to strike. If the gun is holstered, the trigger can't catch on anything accidently.
If the gun is single action it's traditional to have an external safety, and I think that's a good idea for that type of action.

An external safety is redundant on a DA gun. It already has internal safeties (like a Glock) that keep the gun from firing unless the trigger is pulled. Keep it in a holster and keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire and it won't go off. When you pull the trigger, it will go off. A *safe* gun is one that fires when the trigger is pulled and *won't* fire if it isn't pulled.
>>
>>30182024
Just takes one mistake. I'd rather have a safety.
>>
>>30182106
If you want an external safety, then by all means get one. It could make sense if you use Mexican carry or some other method that leaves the trigger exposed to getting caught on something.

The point is that if you need an external safety to prevent a ND on a heavy-trigger DA, then you have made a very serious mistake in your gun handling and were just lucky that the safety was on when you made it.
>>
>>30182106
Just make sure that you practice drawing & dry firing (without any ammo around) until taking off the safety on the draw is completely automatic and unconscious, just as if you carried a single-action semi-auto like a 1911 or hi-power.
>>
>>30178769
Please carry that exact gun in that exact way so it blows your balls off some day because "Lol why do holsters even cover the trigger?". We need less tripfags

frame safeties on SA pistols such as 1911 style pistols are fine as long as you train with them frame safeties on DA pistols like the FNX are redundant unless you carry cocked and locked. slide safeties such as the berretta px4 8000 or 92 should never be engaged unless you want to die.

Yeah man those revolvers all have safeties, right? Holy shit milfags are retarded. No wonder we fuck their wives when they're deployed.

I've been mugged.

Let me give you a dose of reality.

You'll have seconds.

You will have tunnel vision.

Your hands will turn into mittens.

Everything will go out the window as you revert to survival basics.

Your safety WILL fuck you up when you draw.

You'll either forget to disengage it.

Be unable to disengage it.

Or accidentally re-engage it.

All those hours you spent practicing to take off your safety on draw would've been better spent practicing something actually useful.
