Do Eagle SPC hold up to modern Plate carriers?
Because the LBT 6094s ain't cutting it for me.

I've been looking at
mayflower APC & velocity systems SCARAB Light
I'm up for any recommendations

There are comfier, lighter, feature packed (swift clips, 6/12, tubes, intergral pouches) and cheaper plate carriers abound. But the eagle is still damn good

If that's a actually your planned kit, you need new mag pouches that'll take 7.62
And get something that's 4 molle collums wide or shorter to keep your two part cummerbund a two part cummerbund

And don't wear that fucking night cap. Get a damn bump helmet at the least, or splurge for ballistic.

What does /k/ recommend as far as personal radios go?

Are there any universal holsters that are actually worth it?

Mayflower APC, just what is the story on side plates? Are they able to take hard side plates or does it only fit soft side armor?

What do y'all do all geared up? Not trolling, genuinely curious. I think it'd be cool to get into gear stuff, but I don't really have a use for most of it I feel like.
>>
>>30165868
/k/ is gonna recommend a Baofeng because that's all their willing to spend on a radio. If you ever argue that there are better radios out there they note that they can buy 4 chink radios for the cost of a good HT. Apparently it's better to have four shitty broken radios than one good one. Google is your friend on this front. Try to find Ham guys who are tacticool/preppers rather than preppers/mall ninja who bought the cheapest Ham they could find on Amazon.

>>30165936

I have some woods I can go in where no one will bother me, and I practice "practical" shooting. Prone, behind cover, reloads, shooting on the move, control my rate of fire, IMTs, shit like that, I'll also, just put it on, take pictures of it because it's cool, or at least I think gear is cool.

Its like all hobbies, it can be a cheap thing to do every now and then, it can suck away half of your paycheck and eat up your weekends. But that's on you.

While your statement about the Baofengs being shitty is true, does the average /k/ommando really need something super fancy? I know I don't. I just need something that can hook into a PTT and pick up standard radio frequencies. I use mine when camping for weather updates as well as an emergency way to contact someone in case someone gets hurt. That's vital especially when I go out innadesert for shooting stuff because cell phone signal is super spotty out there. That's not to say there aren't vastly superior alternatives out there. They're definitely are. I just don't need something better than a baofeng for what I do.
>>
>>30166035
I am kinda tempted to go all kitted out to a con I have today. But I would have to unload all my mags and I don't have an airshit AR to take with me. They certainly won't let me take my actual AR in.

Something fancy? No.
But they aren't good radios and aren't near as durable as one of the big companies HTs. To play with they're fine, but don't pretend they're a serious use radio that's somehow better than say a Yaesu, which most of the poorfags here legitimately claim.
>>
>>30166392
Relax champ, Like I said they're are much better options than the Baofeng out there. No one is arguing against you. It's just for my needs, and probably a lot of other /k/ommandos, the Baofeng suits their needs for a low cost. I've brought mine out camping and shooting dozens of times. I haven't had issues with it. To each their own. Just because we all use a cheap radio doesn't mean there aren't better ones out there.

They'll usually just keep your rifle at the security desk if they're not comfortable with it.

Thing is, most people just assume that a kitted-out autist at a weeb convention is just an airsofter. I've been able to keep my rifle and ammo at some of these cons because the security guy doesn't give a shit, he just hands you a ziptie to run through the magazine well.
>>
>>30166694
Holy shit, that's actually a little scary. I don't need some autist able to bring a fucking rifle to a con because security is too dumb to check it.
>>
>>30165868
Baofeng is the basic one that is entry level. They are compatible with Kenwood audio gear. They are not waterproof or weatherproof. They are not terribly durable. They need a programming cable.

My local PD gives them to retirees who volunteer for traffic control and event support.

I have a Yaesu FT-260. Waterproof, weatherproof, durable, can be easily programmed without a computer, and I can lock keys, PTT, and dial in any combo. You need to mod them with a solder trace cut to open their frequency range for transmission.

I also have a baofeng UV5R5 as a backup or loaner. Between the two, I pick the Yaesu every time. The Yaesu does cost 4x as much but it is worth it.

Grab a baofeng to cut your teeth on the basics of radio use and upgrade everything else and then go for a better radio unless you need a waterproof radio. Think of the baofeng as your first boyfriend, a learning experience that can be a pain in the ass. A better radio is like your first long-term boyfriend, less of a pain in the ass because you are used to it, things are less complicated, and the relationship is more durable.

I'm ex-Army, so having some good gear to go along with my weapons makes sense.
You never know when you might need it.
At the very least everyone should have a chest rig to carry their ammo, water, and medical stuff, that is if you think you might ever need to actually use a rifle.

Obviously a dangerous attack dog that will maul babies in their cribs. There is no legitimate purpose for assault dogs on the streets of America. We need common sense dog control to keep these dogs out of the hands of top tier gear queers. We need regulations on how these dogs are kept and how much they fed.

>>30168604

With PC's you get what you pay for, $100 carriers like condor and whatnot are airsoft tier. The mayflower APC is legit and can be had for about $200. You can find a lot of different carriers on ebay.

So if anyone is curious I ordered some pants from Tactical Distributor, they are their TD Carlos Ray Pants. They are pretty cheap range pants and come in some interesting colors.

From my pair I got I can say their fit is alot more baggy than what I was expected. I would recommend getting a size smaller, especially since they have spandex in them. The mag pockets work really well except for the left leg one which because of the baggy fit of the pants allow the mag to flop around like a flip hooker on shabu.

Overall I would get another pair but get them smaller (I usually wear 32x34 and would next time get 30x32)

Friend, go take a class at Insights Training Center. It will be worth it.

whatever, you'd be remise not to familiarize yourself with your medical gear considering

Yeah buddy, I'm sure your basic first aid + CPR class covered wound packing, tourniquet application, needle decomp, and inserting a NPA. You don't know how much you don't know if you think any basic first aid and CPR class is going to help you. What did they teach you, chest compressions, RICE, and how to put a person in the recovery position?

The plunger is for deep wounds, also known as the kind that you dont want to monkey with if you arent a dedicated medic. The gauze will also be lighter and smaller.

Unless you mean the cake pack
I like the cake pack. It's a great 45 liter for working with a plate carrier.

The shoulder straps are thin, and the waistbelt is built for hugging & distributing the weight.
The way the pack has been constructed it puts the weight on your hips and not your shoulder, while keeping a good center of gravity, when you're weighted down with kit.

with the wide base the more narrow top, it doesn't have the problem of pulling away from the body like some of the more top-heavy packs do.

I like the snowflake value of the SPOSN cake ,or tortilla, pack. but it's a great pack IMO.

>>30170836

Lol. It wouldn't matter, but I work with em often (a couple times a week usually, Fugitive stuff is also USMS' deal) and can honestly say I've never seen anyone else wear a 6094. One dude runs Ranger Green Banshee, one dude runs an OD CIRAS, one runs a Black Eagle Industries PC, and one guy runs a Coyote HSGI Weesatch. Idk why if supposedly this 6094 was contracted and bought for everyone, but when I showed it to some of them, they were like "nope, never seen em."
>>
>>30170836
But it really wouldn't matter. We're all the same team. As long as no one gets shot, we're good.
>>
>>30170869

Nah. Don't have any. Got a guy working on it for me though! SWAT guys get the fun stuff...
>>
>>30170897
That's interesting. I've seen pics of it in use. Before I bought mine I did some looking to see if I could find the contract it was under and I think they got them through a third party vendor so it might have been a regional thing?
>>
>>30170921
That sucks, although I guess it's personal preference. I have 3a panels in the sides and it adds stiffness making it easier to get on and off.
>>
>>30170948
That's the main reason I'd want em. It doesn't really offer a TON of protection...

>>30170939

>>30171096
>Rucksack with food and other shit= 10-15 LBS
More like 20-30 depending on your shelter, sleep gear, extent of rations, need for water (desert ops)

>Support system to keep you resupplied and backed up
It becomes a lot more appealing to drop the plates in favor of additional ammo, guns too for that matte, once you accept you're pretty much on your own

I put my kit in the 40lb range. 20lbs between the loaded rifle and the chest rig alone. Not gonna run marathons with it on, but that's a comfortable rucking weight
>>
>>30171099

Sometimes. I have an IFAK on a HSGI Battle Belt. Usually it stays in my truck and I just run my PC with a Safariland 6378 (Glock 21SF) and a Safariland 573 (mag & cuffs) for basic "jump out" kinda stuff. If this is a more planned out deal or a more high profile bad guy, I'll throw on my HSGI battle belt which has a drop leg for my Glock, my IFAK, a Tops Sky Marshal, a taser, and a couple sets of flex cuffs on it. I don't worry as much as I should on the "normal" deals where I do not have an IFAK because one of the other guys is a SWAT tac-medic with a whole lot of experience that typically hangs back for medical emergencies and is ready to render aid. I know worst case scenario could lead to everyone being down, and I guess it's bad that I'm getting complacent. I'll prolly throw it on my carrier before the next warrant service.

I would watch out for post-blackhawk eagle. Most of the old guard from eagle went to start First Spear when they got bought out. But if you get old eagle gear its all good to go as fuck. My RRV is old eagle and it survived a tour and doesn't even look like it.

The backing is new and I should note that the pouches are all new to me, I removed all my tour shit from the RRV because AR Cadpat.

Medfag here, celox is and quikclot can cause blindness if it kicks up into your eye and you don't wash it out, it's not instant or guaranteed every time.

Celox plungers are good for stabilizing gunshot wounds that would cause fatal blood loss. Any clots formed in the artery, if they break loose into the blood stream, will end up occluding smaller arterioles downstream -- ie, a gun shot to the forearm could cause a downstream clot in the ulnar artery, but your hand receives collateral blood supply anyway. If it enters the venous circulation somehow then you get a PE, which isn't necessarily life threatening. Clots cannot possibly enter brain or coronary arteries unless you have a PDA, which is very unlikely. That having been said, celox is intended for life threatening wounds -- situations where the choice is between risk of clotting or bleeding death.

medfag again, np, I usually lurk these threads just don't trip or post often.

Do you do industrial or research chem?

Also want to mention maybe adding diphenhydramine and aspirin to your IFAK if it's not already in there, just one single serve pack. Just seems to me that in a non-SHTF ruck with your gear you're much more likely to be with someone who gets acute chest pain or has an unknown allergy to bees than get shot. Diphenhydramine alone isn't enough to counter anaphylaxis, I really wish epi pens were OTC, but it's better than nothing. For the same reason it might be worth considering carrying a tracheotomy kit instead of an OPA or NPA. Just my unsolicited 2c.
>>
>>30179483
Wouldn't it be better to have a dedicated GSW or TCCC oriented kit with all your gun stuff and have a separate general med kit in your pack (for hiking or whatever) or in your car? Just thinking that for organizational purposes this would be a lot simpler.
>>
>>30179597

However you want to break it up, sure. Different people have kits for different reasons. Some people keep their whole kit in their trunk just in case... others have get home bags? something like that I forget the acronym. I'm only saying if you're walking in the woods with gear and buddies on any given normal weekend, may want to consider adding those two meds.

It is for malfunction clearing, mainly looking at stuck case or a brass over bore malfunction. I like having field expedient solutions to problems, and using this is much faster and easier than fucking around with a multitool. This is not intended to be a fix while actively under fire (as if I need to state that), but it is fast. With a bit of practice I can go from identifying a malfunction to clearing it and getting the rifle up and running in sub-45 seconds. Carrying it as is doesn't interfere with anything, carrying the rob assembled or partially assembled causes a bit of interference, so having it disassembled is a compromise. I also carry basic cleaning supplies along with my rifle mags so the rod can be used for that. I'm of the mindset of carrying field expedient fixes and support supplies with my items as much as possible; sewing kit in my pant pocket, spare batteries with my electronics, and cleaning and fixes with my weapons. It's surprisingly easy to organize all this stuff while still staying relatively streamlined.

What do you mean by brass over bore? Is that any different from a bolt override? Cause you can clear those with no tools.

>Pull charging handle back as far as you can (exert some strength here, you can place the buttstock against your chest with the muzzle down if you're kneeling, or against your thigh/hip with the muzzle up)
>Rip mag out (same, use some muscle)
>Press bolt catch in
>karate-chop/ridge-hand the charging handle forward
>rack rack rack
>reload the gun

Or if you can't get enough travel to use the bolt catch you can get your fingers into the magwell or ejection port to hold the bolt back, and do the same karate chop to the charging handle.

This is in Pat Mac's carbine DVD and there are some youtube videos in which Mike Pannone demonstrates this.

Also you could assemble the cleaning rod and run it along the right side of the rifle, like KD4's in pic related.

Basically this malfunction. However if a round if caught between the bottom of the charging handle and the top of the bolt, pulling back on the charging handle may exacerbate the problem by causing the round to become more wedged in place. I know from experience how much of a pain this issue can become for people if the first solution doesn't work or they don't use enough muscle, and end up with a round jammed in worse than when they started. Using the clearing rod has, for me, proven to be fast and reliable. It also works just as fast for clearing stuck brass, and for intended use as a cleaning tool.

I experimented with different rod placements and don't like putting it on the stock like that. It leaves me unable to adjust the stock length. My placement doesn't interfere with anything for me.

I have come to my layout over a long time of experimentation and use in the field. I listen to expert commentary, but the experts often have conflicting opinions, so the real test is to use something for yourself and let personal experience guide it. I'm not trying to spread the gospel of my way or the highway, since not all layouts fit all situations. My experience is primarily longer term dismounted with reduced supply chains; this has given me a focus on self fixes and multiuse items.

But I like coming here to see how others have had their experiences shape their choices.
>>
>>30181936
>Also, I have an issued ACH but I can't seem to get it to fit well with the pads in, are there thinner pads out there for sale?

You don't have to wear all the pads. Remove like half of them for better airflow. Also, get aftermarket straps.

>cheap ass molle pouches and shit

What kinda pouches? If you're .mil, then the issued pouches should already fit the majority of your needs. What are you not currently able to carry than you want to?

>Well, I am, but we all know issued shit is just shit.

Most of the issued pouches are actually pretty good, just underappreciated. The triple mag shingles and the bandoleer are the only pieces I can think of which just really suck.

For an AK, go on SKD and buy whatever they say will fit. And/or get some TACOs.
