I checked out some ammo deals they had (they had a spam can of 54R for a decent price) and when I asked him about .45acp, he showed me a few boxes of PMC or some shit like that. He then told me that 99% of .45ACP purchases are made by guys over 40. He said that none of the younger people either buy .45ACP guns or ammo.

230gr .45acp is going to be louder than, say, 147gr or 158gr 9x19 simply because of a larger bore diameter and more powder burnt to achieve similar velocities. The advantage is, 230gr .45 is the "standard" load and 147gr non-+P is kinda rare, and 158gr is really fucking hard to find.
