Sidenote: If anyone else play GT:Mius Front, how the hell do I attack things like towns/trenches without losing such massive amounts of men? It always eventually becomes a slog that eats up 3/4 of my forces.

Lots and lots of fire support. Make sure you have fire superiority before you close in, and when you do, bring the tanks in close.
Realistically, the best solution is not to fight in them at all. Cut them off and make them waste their supplies before attacking.
