They aren't. Literally the worst adjustment
A1s are KISS as fuck, and the a4 is the a2 with the option for good optics mounting and good weapon light mounting.
Because its super lightweight, rifle length gas and buffer means its extremely soft shooting, 20" barrel gives you optimum velocity, A2 buttstock is solid and a good size, irons are great, and you can mount a bayonet.

Poppycock. The A1 apertures are both almost exactly the same size as the small A2 aperture, they're just set at different elevations. Only the A2 has a large aperture for fast/close/dark shooting.

Advantages of an A2 clone for you: Longer sight radius, longer handguard, plastic handguard feels pretty good in the hands, less felt recoil than adjusting stock rifle.
Disadvantages: Can't adjust the stock to be smaller if you're a Small Guy, wearing armor or doing tacticool CQB. Long barrel is clunky in close quarter. Can't add attachments and shit right off the bat.
My subjective verdict: An A2 clone is a fine rifle to get good with fundamental iron sight shooting. It's also very stylish and classy, and while mounting an optic such as a Colt tube on top of the carry handle isn't quite as tactically effective as a flattop, it looks cool as fuck. If you can buy an A2 clone, do it.
