I really want a Galil, and the Century knockoff was discontinued years ago and costs way more than it is worth now. Is there anyway to get a good one in 5.56 for under $1k?
>>
>>30121358
No.
>>
>>30121399
Well fuck.
>>
>>30121358

Why do you want a Galil?
>>
>>30121477
Reliability and simplicity of the AK platform (which I vastly prefer), but it can take ammo that I don't have to order off of the internet. Also I appreciate the rear sights being on the back of the receiver rather than on the gas block. And I know you can get NPAPs that take 5.56, but I've heard super mixed things about those guns.
>>
Keep an eye out locally. Got my golani last year for 500 with 5 IMI magazines. I'd never dream of selling that gun now
>>
>>30121562
You are a luck man.
>>

Can get a 7.62x39mm galil from IWI US currently, the 7.62x51 and 5.56x45 models will be coming very soon.

>>
>>30121508
>Also I appreciate the rear sights being on the back of the receiver rather than on the gas block
...a Galil has a sight on its gasblock: the front sight. A typical AK's rear sight is mounted on the appropriately named rear sight block with the gas tub retention mechanism. A Galil/Yugo/Krinkov's rear sight is mounted on the dust cover, not the receiver. Just some nomenclature clarification for your information.
>>
>>30121861
Thanks. I like having the rear sight closer to my face.It just makes it easier for me to aim.

Apex parts kit, reciever from some dude on an internet forum, and either a lot of time and some tools or paying some other dude to make it for you. That's pretty much the only reasonably priced way right now.

Or hunt around on armslist and gunbroker for a non-shit century sporter, or maybe even a Golani.
>>
>>30122052
Dumb fuck
Century sporter = golani
Did you think they were 2 different rifles?
>>
>>30122052
Apex parts kits are beat up, you will have to replace a few parts.
Receivers are tricky. Awo is the cheapest at 250$, they suck are suspect and several noteworthy gunsmiths refuse to work on them.
Cnc warrior receivers run 450~500$ but are top of the line, they only make so many per year though and sell out and have to be backordered.
Gunsmith fees.
You wont be able to build this rifle. Even if you had the tools you probably didn't know that the receivers come with some extra material to be hand fitted to your beat up kit, for starters.
922r parts.
You wont get it built for less than a G, stop dreaming.

Your only "cheap" ticket into the galil club is a century golani sporter.
>>
Galil question-

I bought a golani a while ago and notice I can twist the whole front sight with a firm grip by at least 5-10 degrees, but also notice it's attached with roll pins

did some bubba replace solid pins with roll pins or am I safe to redrill the holes for new pins like any other ak

Look at this steamed richfag.

For a $200 pistol, it's a good value purchase, for a poorfag, it's better than literally everything else in it's priceclass and is respectably functional.

>a straight blowback pistol being stupid simple and almost impossible to fuck up is a meme
wew lad
>>
>>30124471
It's fucking brilliantly simple for what it is, not because of it's design (it's just a chunky blowback gun), but because it manages to be so cheap and yet not be a worthless hunk of shit.

The slide is cast from zamak (a cheap zinc alloy), with embedded steel plate reinforcements, Hi-Point has deals with various manufacturers and outlets in their area allowing for them to noticeably cut costs of producing the slides, the Hi-Point manages to be competitively priced for the kind of gun it actually is due to really good opportunity and business decisions.

A Bryco, Jennings or Davis in the same calibers aren't even a fraction of the quality that a Hi-Point is, at similar pricing, this is why the Hi-Point is king of cheap beater pistols.

just followed the links to your posts in the akg thread.

Dude just google awo galil receiver and read a few link on the first page.
The two I daresay authorities in the u.s. for galil builds have no praise and not much to say about awo receiver but that they're the cheap option amd sometimes they can be made to work, one will simply not do your build if you bring an awo receiver, the other will charge you more and rightfully so.
I'm guessing you're barely getting into guns. You don't know how to work akfiles for info, don't know about uzitalk. Have accounts in neither, where your stupid little project has been discussed to death. What you think nobodies had the idea? You think awo receivers are new? You think there haven't been better condition cheaper kits a few years ago? Lmao you are so ignorant and its funny how you responded so incredulous to the other anon so sure and full of yourself.
Please let us know how bad your "builder" rapes you on price.
Don't forget they wont do it without 922r parts which aren't free.
Your receiver is basically ras47 quality, pray you got a good one.
Yes if you shoot it long enough there is likely a kaboom in your future.
The difference between century galil receivers and awo receivers is basically the same as century vs hessy.
Issues you will have, barrel timing, bolt lug contact, bullet guide fitment, headspacing issues Kb, heat treatment, extra milling and much hand fitting.

Awo gen 2 galil receivers are still flawed. Google ars orf gen 2 galil receiver review. Oh yeah your barrel will likely be problematic and incur extra charge too.
By the way ORF = AWO
Much like hesse = blackthorne

Ive given you enough places to look for you to get started gather some info and start regretting your decision. I wont spoonfeed you no more
>>
>>30127495

>>30131119
Because it's a cheap, bulky gun, it's functionally very basic and crude.

It's straight blowback, which, if you want to have in calibers larger than .380ACP or 9mm Makarov, needs a fair bit heavier bolt or slide, so the slide is a chunky zamak and steel twinkie.

This isn't graceful, but it DOES work, now for the actual drawbacks of the gun:
>ugly
>kind of heavy and bulky
>unpleasant grips
>rough trigger
>magazines are sometimes out of spec

The pros:
>works, and shoots quite straight
>insanely hard to break, can take all manner of abuse, rated for +P
>cheap, literally the best pistol in it's price class
>incredibly generous warranty, they will replace your gun for free no matter what, and usually this entails a free magazine (if you keep it when sending the gun to them), this warranty holds even if you bought it used, ownership is the only qualification
>>
>>30132702
There is a reason that Jamal and crew love these things.
>>
>>30132702
why not use something other than straight blowback though.

>>30132746
Yes, because it's a cheap pistol in service calibers that isn't absolutely shit, hence it's popular with basketball Americans of both the criminal and law abiding kind.
The Ruger P80 and P90 series of pistols were fairly popular for similar reasons, though those haven't been made for a few years, and they were a hundred or so dollars more.

>>30133037
Short-recoil in the style of the typical tilting barrel Browning style is more mechanically complex, and the crudeness of the design helps keep it cheap, instead of machining a complete, normal sized slide out of steel, they can make one cast out of thick zamak for weight (and they have a very good setup for having this done cheaper than what it would usually cost), and then only use some steel for reinforcement.

If you're gonna make something that's cheap, it helps if it's less mechanically complex.
Bryco and Davis Arms make short-recoil pistols in 9mm Luger and they're absolutely atrocious because those guys barely know how to do a straight blowback pistol on the budget they're aiming at.
