This DESU - go Galil or some other other 5.56 AK-pattern. Keep the old FALs around though because you might need them - accurize the best for DMR work and the rest for second-lines or anyone that prefers them.

Because they're ready made to mount a rail? No, they're not. I've got a boner for para-FALs, but they aren't immediately compatible with the contemporary tools of warfare. The action is fine enough, but the receiver and handguard need redesigned to accept mounting solutions out of the box.

Try cqc with a rifle that long. If you do a sweep and clear of a building you'll have serious problems when going through a door frame or window and rounding corners.
A lot of modern warfare is very up close, you don't lie around and shoot over fields like you used to back then.
