I'm in the South West, and shooting is kinda getting bland, and I was wondering where people in the Tampa/Sarasota/Orlando area go to shoot?
Private land? Public land?
Does /k/ do Florida meets? And if so how do I get involved in them?

Basspro remains the most chill ghosttown gunrange down here. My group were the only ones there for an hour on a Saturday.
Anyone else down here shoot in the super sekret illegal shooting area off alligator alley of late? The WCA was closed for a long time due to flooding pushing deer and hogs onto the dykes and the tree cops actually had to do their jobs. Should be back to normal around now. The deal how I understand it is that as long as you clean up your shit and cases they pretend you're hunting in whatever season it is at the time.

954 here as well, I dig the Bass Pro range, I used to work in their camping department and I would take all my lunch breaks up there. Their range is great for pistols, but if you're shooting rifle the price of frangible/soft point ammunition means that you're better off at a different range. I currently work at Shoot Straight now ((Bass Pro won't let a 19 year old work at their range) and do most of my shooting there cause free range time, with the occasional trip to Markham

Avoid Delray like the plague. Their prices are ridiculous and their staff is mostly comprised of special needs children. The owners kid pissed off so many people that someone started a fairly popular facebook page dedicated to boycotting them.

Well, the "Brass Scandal" happened.
TL;DR
A guy got lead poisoning sorting brass that they were supposed to be selling for charity but they were actually pocketing the cash on.
And the range was getting increasingly unsafe because the ROs failed to correct idiots time and time again, I stopped going there for a while because of this.

Nexus is god-tier desu. The paper targets are $15 an hour(the same as most other ranges in the area), ammo's usually decently priced, and the staff is pretty great. They have ROs on the line, but they mind their own business, and are helpful if you need anything. Virtual range is 25 bucks and kinda buggy sometimes, but usually they're good about either fixing it or refunding you the cost of shooting.

yup, couches, a coffee table sorta thing, etc. It'd be cozy as fuck if you could chill there and clean guns after shooting, but I figure they wouldn't allow it. I've never tried though, either.
The only problem is that they charge a flat $20 for rangetime, which is a bit more than the norm around here. The good lighting, good staff, and good AC is worth it though. Cody (chubby dude with the beard that works the range counter) is pretty damn cool, too.

I noticed that about the prices, I had to get some gas tube roll pins last minute and that place is closest. While the roll pins weren't really expensive and I didn't want to wait, everything else there was fucking outrageous.
I've actually been looking at their reviews on google for some humor recently as they constantly accuse bad reviews of being other shops slandering them. It's hilarious.

What's wrong with the prices? Every range I know of charges at least $15, so its not bad. The only other fee is a $10 membership thing to weed out the basketball americans. I buy all my ammo from wallyworld, but every once in a while when I need to get shotshells or Mak ammo they're pretty reasonably priced as well. Ive never bothered checking other ammo prices though.

The problem that always pops up is that everyone lives in broward/Dade but for a few guys up north who keep trying to organize shoots and know people with land that always fizzles out.
Best place I can think of that's like 300 miles away from the 4 guys in the 954 down here would be the Ocala national forest gun range. It's free and unstaffed, but only has about 20 bays. Blew though there once and every hillperson for 50 miles was waiting in line for their turn to shoot after church.
Markham's annoying and manatee is an unknown quantity to me but probably set up similarly.

I refuse to go to cecil webb now due to their bullshit de facto registry they want you to sign now. That and I'm sick of the fucking "1 shot per second" rule every fucking range you go to. I hate going to indoor ranges unless I'm just shooting pistols and nobody else is there (despite still being way overpriced places to shoot). Used to be able to shoot at my granps property in Naples but the cops came out the last time I shot my rifle their cause some asshole called and reported a ricochet that didn't come from my property andeven though I wasnt the only person shooting in the area the cops heard me because I was the one shooting as they rolled down the street. Also,now they're passing state laws saying you can't shoot on residential properties anymore, at least I heard. So I basically can't shoot anywhere. Haven't shot my babies since November. SW FL sucks dick for shooting.

It's a decent outdoor range, 100m is nice, but the ROs are fucking morons, and like to talk to you and touch your shit without asking. Plus they've got shit hours. Weekdays they're only open from 1-5p, they're closed every monday and friday, and weekends are PACKED. All you can shoot is paper, and they dont allow human or animal shaped targets.

At my old job I had to pick this guy up and get him through a hole in the fence. He'd stick his head through the grating, think he was free and clear, then proceed to run into the fence until exhaustion. Then he'd move a few feet sideways and so the same thing. range situation blows niggerdick. There is a range in merrit island but its pistol only and you can only shoot their ammo. Frogbones in melbourne lets you shoot rifles, but its expensive and you cant shoot steel case so its fuckin useless if your ak fag. plus only 25 yards or something. I usually only go pistol shooting locally or shoot over to Indian river shooting range for out door bench shooting, but its like a 40-45 min drive. Other than that there is always the cocoa spot.....

You have Frogbones on US-1, which is a great indoor range, pistol and rifle lanes separate from one another. If you want an outdoor range the Indian River county public shooting range is the only real range around unless you want membership at the Malabar rifle and pistol club.
There's a spot of land off of 520 where the meetups are held where people just go and shoot called Satellite boulevard.

We gotta a nice-ish range in Charlotte county right off I-75 exit 158.
Its outdoor, open to the public, on the Cecil Webb wildlife management area, like $3 per person to shoot.
Has a 25yrd pistol range, 100yrd rifle /slug shotgun range, 200yrd rifle/ slug shotgun range, and 2 shotgun skeet stands for clays.
only draw backs, 1 sec between rounds (unless it rapid fire day then all is good), and sometimes it takes forever to get a cold range to change targets. but the range officers are ok for the most part and not too much of assholes. LOL, also goto the bathroom before you get there, theirs suck and bring a cooler. not much shade and no where to buy anything.

Yes, it's a free public range. Google Maps has is listed as Forest Road 88 Shooting Range if you're looking for directions.
I went yesterday, it's pretty nice. Make sure you bring targets, tape/staples, and trash wood to pin them to (or you can find sticks in the woods right along it).
I'd also recommend getting there earlier rather than later so you can beat any crowd (although it's never packed) and claim a lane.

They're good folk, and if you shoot more than once a month the month membership pays itself. Just have to hit it at the right time or you're going to be waiting to shoot.
