Hey /k/ommandos, what would be your dream AK setup?

mine would pretty much be this:
>lightweight stamped (preferrably Saiga) 5.45 receiver
>bolton gas block/front sight post
>cut back barrel, welded brake
>Us Palm AK Grip
>AKARS Rail/TWS dog leg gen3 (whichever holds zero)
>Remove stock AK side mount to save on weight
>polymer folder/triangle metal folder stock
>Cut safety lever, cut in a position where it actually grabs bolt handle when a mag holds it open.(I dont know how im gonna do this, maybe heavier bolt/stronger recoil spring)
>ALG zero reset trigger
>Aimpoint red dot/poor mans ACOG
>Bakelite/reinforced polymer 30/45 rounder mags
>Venom tactical Antidote break
>lightest polymer handguards

>Nogunz eastern-yuropoor (from London)

Ive never even fired a gun before...

I pretty much assembled my "dream AK" from a SLR107 with a krebs safety, magpul pistol grip, ultimak rail with an Aimpoint T2 and a Surefire Scout. Oh, and the AK-9 handguard with BCM stubby vfg. I usually run 20rd Hungarian tanker mags, I like the profile better.
>>
Mine would pretty much be this:
>whatever Poland or Bulgaria gives me in the parts kits
>>
>>30086748
>that edge

Cheers m8.
I know, but just wandered what are the thoughts.
>>
>>30086776
That thing is fucking sexy.

Why the 20 rders though ? I know we sold out 63d parts kits from the MH, are 30 rders really that much of an inconvenience ?
>>
>Cut safety lever, cut in a position where it actually grabs bolt handle when a mag holds it open.(I dont know how im gonna do this, maybe heavier bolt/stronger recoil spring)

Wait what?

All the safety lever does is put a tab of metal over the trigger to keep it from contacting the disconnect. I'm missing something.

You lock the charging handle a bit too far forward, wouldnt really work reliably otherwise as it doesnt have enough momentum to actually chamber a round. Im trying to figure out how to get around that.
>>
>>30086734
>lightweight stamped (preferrably Saiga) 5.45 receiver
All 1mm AK receivers are the same weight but okay
>bolton gas block/front sight post
Bolt on fucking sucks
>cut back barrel, welded brake
Length idea? Brake idea?
>Us Palm AK Grip
Okay
>AKARS Rail/TWS dog leg gen3 (whichever holds zero)
Heavy but it works, RS Regulate side mount is lighter
>Remove stock AK side mount to save on weight
Side rail removal? Dumb idea
>polymer folder/triangle metal folder stock
Triangle is better idea
>Cut safety lever, cut in a position where it actually grabs bolt handle when a mag holds it open.(I dont know how im gonna do this, maybe heavier bolt/stronger recoil spring)
Not really possible
>ALG zero reset trigger
For a up close rifle I dont really think it matters that much
>Aimpoint red dot/poor mans ACOG
ACOG eye relief is full retard. Aimpoint is good
>Bakelite/reinforced polymer 30/45 rounder mags
Yes
>Venom tactical Antidote break
K
>lightest polymer handguards
Wrong answer, the correct answer is AK9 handguards with a light

Will post my build in a sec

>>30086822

I just have a weird appreciation of shorter 20rd mags, I prefer 20rd USGI for my ARs as well. No real reason, I just like em. Also with a 20rd mag inserted in the AK I can fit the rifle in a tennis racquet case with the stock folded which is how I usually transport it in my vehicle.
>>
>>30086851
Just cut that tab farther back? You could even do that with the stock safety lever and a steady hand. I've built a few of these rifles and am having a hard time understanding why that would be a problem.
>>
>>30086898

I'm confused, so you want to be able to use a bold hold mag, have the bolt hold back when empty, move the safety selector to hold the bold, remove mag, insert fresh mag, and then drop the safety to reload the rifle? The act of putting the rifle on safe and then fire again seems dumb and time-consuming just to get a rudimentary "bolt release" action.
>>
>>30086872
>Triangle is better idea

Why so? I was tossing between a Magpul Zhukov or Taiwanese Bulgy repro sidefolder for my next 74 build. The Magpul is definitely cheaper.
>>
>>30086932
Exactly. Might seem like a chore but its not as much of a chore as racking the bolt each time a new magazine is in. This is something you can get used to and save time/not wave around your hands like you wanted to lift off
>>
>>30086851
you know thats not how it works right?
the vast majority of ak mags will not lock open when empty. they were never designed to and lack the follower that would allow it.
even the mags that lock the bolt back immediately drop the bolt when removed.
the safety is pretty much for range use only to show clear.
>>
>>30086952
I know. This is EXACTLY WHAT ITS FOR SENPAI.

>Use yugo mags/build polymer mags with bolt-hold open followers
>mag is empty
>you actuate the safety
>pul mag out
>put new one in
>take gun off of safe
>fire

Kinda like a sluggish AR reload.
>>
btw did you guys know that when you type F.A.M. it posts as SENPAI ?

Good taste, dude.
>>
>Core
1.5mm Yugo RPK receiver
M72B1 finned barrel cut back to 16"
VEER14 Muzzle Brake
Titanium piston with lightened carrier

>Control surfaces
US Palm grip
Kvadreyl "Serpent" Handguard
ARMACON Button-1 Charging handle
STKBR Stock

>Additional junk
Zenit RC-0 stubby VFG
Lynx Extended safety
Zenit LCC-4 Finger IR laser
RS-Regulate Mount
Aimpoint pro

Triangle latch is stronger when locked to the gun resulting in a more durable setup, plenty of 74M stocks have had snapping issues. Triangle > Zhukov since it is fuck ugly and breaks. If you can hold off on your purchase DDI will be making some 74 triangle stocks that might go for less than the taiwan ones.
>>
>>30086993
all you are doing is adding additional steps to the reload
>>
>>30086872
This guy gets it.

I have been thinking about getting an Arsenal SAR-M1 (milled) in 7.62x39mm, installing a telescopic stock because the standard Slav manlet stock too short, then at some point when my financial situation allows it getting a decent scope/reflector sight for use in competitions here in Funland.

My 74 is setup pretty much the same way, but is awaiting an RS Regulate mount and magnified optic.

The 107FR has a Manticore NightBrake and the 104FR has a NightShroud MKII. Both are fucking great, but truthfully the standard 74 brake is great. I just got these for super cheap.

I also love US palm grips. My 107's is wrapped in hockey tape and it absolutely rocks.

Why exactly do Bolton blocks suck? They sure used to, but can now be pinned, are elevation adjustable and accommodate both 90 and 45 degree ports.

If youre going to pin a bolt on block you can just put on a real block

I already have my dream AK, just need to find a better mount and the original cheekpiece.
>>
>>30088054
Get a bulgy "cr" block. Accomplishes the same thing, allows for easy swap of 24mm devices (for sbrs) and is bomb proof.
>>
>>30088091
Why isn't the Bolton block a "real" block? In what way is it worse that a stock block (currently, once again, they used to lack important features)?
>>
>>30088228
Agreed, I like them as well. Doesn't mean Boltons suck. I'm not trying to say they're the best either, just a valid option and they catch a lot of crap online from outdated information.

Thinking of picking one up soon. Not sure if I should go Arsenal, James River, or DDI though.

Ak105 (or 104) with a ultimak railz and T1

Been waiting 2 goddamn years for arsenal to release the slr104cr model but I guess I'm going to have to cut the barrel and buy the gas block myself......which are only in stock like twice a fucking year
>>
>>30088345
Go with the DDI
