ITT, pictures of things that people do to get around firearms legislation.

All comers welcome. In fact, it would be nice if we could try to make an effort to avoid California specific firearms, since we all know what that looks like at this point anyways.

UK legal handguns, apparently.

They'd have to be chambered in .22, since they're semi-automatic.

Pistols have a minimal oal. Since a 20 inch barrel wont work well with a browning drop link semi auto, they add a little cuck stick to the back of the guns

Fun fact, the crazy long Buntline special editions are pretty much only bought by people in the UK, since it meets the oal length laws without any modifications (done purposely, Earp definitly never used anything that long) and is single action, so its (relatively) easy to get permisson to own one. Nobody buys this shit in the us. Although id consider getting one in a ridiculous magnum caliber and slapping a scope on it.
>>
>>30057173

Yeah basically. They call them Long Barreled Pistols and Long Barreled Revolvers. They use the metal rod coming off the bottom of the pistol grip just to increase the overall length so it isn't classed as a handgun anymore which is banned.

They don't put a stock on it because they don't want a rifle, they want as close to a handgun as you can get.

New Zealand legal AR15

bought a $10 plastic bipod, cut a leg off, drilled the grip and stock and screwed it in place to make a 'thumbhole' grip. Now my rifle is legal.

However, a policeman is allowed to say it is not if they are having a bad day. And then we have to take them to court.

all semi automatic firearms must not have:
>free standing pistol grip
>folding stock (police interpret this as any adjustable stock)
>bayonet lug
>flash suppressor
>shoulder thing that goes up
>magazine larger than 7 rounds, or appear to hold more than 10 rounds

but there is another licence you can get where you register all your firearms and spend a ton of money and you can get whatever firearm you want.

I heard they struck down NY's 7 round magazine law, because they're damn near impossible to find. You can own a 10 round magazine, but it's a crime to load more than 7 rounds in it

That is correct.

In their own words, most of these strange rules are to discourage the 'wrong' kind of firearm owner, one that is only interested in obtaining 'rambo-style weapons' with no practical purpose.

The shoulder thing that goes up is an important piece of any ghost gun, without it you cannot fire 30 round calibre clips.

Could be much worse, but barrel length restrictions here in Canada are fucking stupid (4.2 inches, just to ban all the 4 inch guns). Consequently smaller handguns often have slightly extended silly barrels, or with some guns (like the Glock 19/23 and shorter PPQ) we can only have the threaded barrel versions for the little bit of added length
>>

So, would it be illegal to have some sort of walking stick/cane with an integral handgun?
>>
>>30059541
Actually it uses an AR18 style BCG/buffer setup and a AR15 like lower. So you could say it is an AR180 (or Hesse V15 AR18 Hybrid) without the short stroke piston (and made with actual quality unlike the Hesse)
>>

What makes the bottom gun a handgun and not a rifle? Is it to do with the length of the buttstock or does it not fit the definition in some other way?

There are only around 1000 or so "unrestricted" ATCs issued in Canada at the moment. There is actually an application form but I believe it was the former Ontario CFO who said "Unless we say you need it, your not getting it" (I'm slightly paraphrasing).

(An unrestricted ATC is the one where you can carry pretty much anywhere, any time; subject to any additions the issuing CFO wants to add. The other 2 ATCs are for the Armored truck guys and for trappers/geologists in the deep wilderness for whom a long gun would significantly hinder the exercise of their jobs. For a Wilderness permit the CFO of Ontario says it has to be the biggest caliber you can handle. Generally anything .45 ACP and below is no go. These 2 are much more common than the unrestricted ATC however. )

And before any non-Canadians think they have found a loophole, no they don't issue it for the occasional camping trip. That doesn't mean you can't carry a long gun for predator defense, an Authorization to Carry is only for you to carry handguns/short barreled semi autos and AR15s.

I do know a guy who got a wilderness permit for his cabin for some reason, didn't really get to talk much about it so I'm not sure of the how or why.

The manufacturer says it's a pistol, and the atf says it's a pistol

But you can't shoulder it or put a vertical grip on it because then it would be an sbr/aow and you'd have to do a ton of paper work to own it legally, but it's a pistol so it's treated the same under the law ad a glock or any other pistol

Those rifle caliber pistols are a semi dubious way to get around sbr laws

So here's the thing.
Canadian gun laws have always been political, and make no sense. I mean, we banned the G11 by name for gods sake. What possible reason could there be for that?

But it leaves HUGE GAPING loopholes. Loopholes the RCMP acknowledges and does not care about, unless it becomes a high profile press story.

1) mag capacity only matters what is marked on the magazine/is DESIGNED for. Not what it is CAPABLE of.
Pic related was a famous example. A 5rnd Beo mag for an AR15 JUST HAPPENED to fit many more .223 cartridges double stacked. Using it in this way was even allowed by the RCMP until the liberal media found out and freaked out, and now ONLY beo 5rnd mags are banned, and only if not used in a gun chambered for it. Other examples exist up here such as carbines that take pistol mags can have 10 rounds.
Thing is, I wish I could find some that fit these other rules; a mag marked for use in a manual action rifle has NO mag limit. So presumably, if a 100rnd drum mag existed for a bolt action rifle, marked and made FOR said bolt action rifle, but JUST HAPPENED to fit a semi-auto, then it could be used. Also .22 has no mag limit. So if there was some magical way (not even sure if possible) to make a very high capacity .22 mag, marked for .22, that somehow was also able to hold a much smaller amount of some centrefire cartridge, that would be usable.

Also, this one is bizarrely specific, but any handgun made pre-1890, and not modified to use a "modern cartridge" is classified as an antique, and is not defined as a firearm or ruled by firearms laws, unless used in a crime. So the funny thing is, the "modern cartridge" list is missing one. .45acp. So I guess people up here can get a pre-1890 webley or nagant, or something in .455, machine it for .45acp, and now you have a handgun that TECHNICALLY (good luck explaining it, though) you could carry everywhere, shoot out in the woods, whatever the shit you want, as long as you don't use it to commit a crime.

>>30063355
5 rd Beo mags aren't banned and you can still put .223/5.56 to full (14-15rnds) capacity in them legally. Now there as been some issues with certain manufactures that the importers are supposedly being denied import permits for but BEO MAGS ARE LEGAL.

2) The cutoff for antiques is 1898. not 1890.
>>
>>30063544
1) Well what do you know! You are correct! Even a guy I know who is a trainer said it was, but a quick search turned up this
http://calibremag.ca/rcmp-prohibit-50-beowulf-magazines/
Tl:dr is that it was a rumour, but it is all legal.

2) that makes more sense. I had heard of Nagants being used, but they're 1895, so that clarifies that. Thanks, man.

No, the only good thing about UK gun law is that it's so old, the only reference to calibre is "rimfire" and "centrefire". Any calibre (long-barrel) revolver or non-semi-auto rifle is okay.

The EU is trying to get everyone to update their gun laws, with bans/restrictions on so-called "military calibers" in the works, which is butt-fuck stupid.

>>30058007

Noice. Over here, they've developed a "lever release" system - bolt locks back after the shot, and a little catch/toggle under your thumb pops-up, and has to be pressed, to release the bolt and chamber the next round. I've seen guys get some pretty quick shooting out of them.

Well they didn't for the beo mag. What makes you think they would for that one? They have been caught explicitly saying they don't care. The mag limit laws were political laws. A total joke.
The RCMP cares about the named gun bans, probably because they want to be able to identify bikers at a distance. For some reason all the bikers I ever meet with illegal guns love AKs and FALs. So presumably if an RCMP sees an AK or FAL-looking rifle, it triggers the hell out of them. Thus the pressure from them to ban Vz and classic green. Vz looks too much like an AK from a distance, and Classic Green looks too much like the banned Sig 550.

Yeah, the reason for the attempted ban is obvious...
But they already said it was legal, no backsies!!
I'm buying one just in case. Canada has historically never done confiscations or buybacks. Always grandfathering. If I were a richfag, I would buy anything currently on the border of legal, in case they make it illegal, then my license turns into a special license with exceptions forever. That I can pass down to my descendants.

In France gun laws went full retard during the 90's. Before that anyone over 18 could buy a shotgun without any license or registration, and it was common to find Mossberg 500s in supermarkets. Then the police created falsified numbers pretending that every armed criminal was using a pump action shotgun because they were so easy to acquire. Gun grabbing politicians used those fake stats to push a pump action shotgun ban. Since they don't know shit about guns though, it only concerned smoothbore pump action shotguns. Meaning you could still own a rifled pump action shotgun, or a smoothbore shotgun using any other kind of mechanism. Thus was created a typical Franco-French modification : the ball action shotgun. Pic related.
Since 2012, smoothbore pump action shotguns have been unbanned, although you now need an authorization to own them, the same authorization that you would need to buy, say an AR or a handgun. And those are limited to 12 per shooter, so pretty much no one bothers with those guns and just buy rifled pump action shotguns with a license.
