What's better for my first semi auto rifle, the main use is plinking and if needed a varmint removing gun.
WASR-10 is the best for the money. There isn't a discussion.
I love my npap, but wsar is a better choice

If you didn't fire it then you can't say whether or not it was a pos. All AKs feel "cheap", they're all loose by design. Npap might have felt better than because of it's proprietary furniture (another reason to get a WASR), but your main concern for comparing the two should be the accuracy and how it shoots.

Where I am at least the wasr is about $100 more than the npap, that's the only reason I picked the npap personally.

It was either that or a thumb hole stock i can use cause im left handed.Already ordered one of those warsaw lenght stocks from century to replace it.
The store bought the guns a couple years back and converted em to double stack.So the rail dust cover was on the gun when it was brand new.I would replace that to but it locks up so tight it might be able to hold a zero.

Wasr uses standard furniture

I'd get the npap unless you want to change the furniture, then WASR for more availability.
I have a '15 WASR and I love it. I shot a friend's NPAP about a month ago and it shot well. I honestly would get either or, for me it would be just what was a better deal to get at the time. I do like the WASR for having standard AK furniture, so to me that was important enough to choose the WASR over the Zastava, but I feel they are pretty close in terms of build quality.
