Speed, /k/, ever since I was little playing Smugglers Run I've been fascinated with speed on the battlefield.
This particular example is a nitro boosted armoured Camero driven by a Dutchman who decided that the Balkan Wars were no excuse to stop delivering medical supplies.
The man himself with the bullet he took to the head somewhere around Vukovar

nitro is a meme and is replaceable by a [super/turbo]charger but fast things are cool so its ok
Then there was the 9th Infantry Division of the US Army equipped with TOW-armed fast attack vehicles intended to make the best use of terrain to ambush Soviet mechanised forces.
>>30034115
A meme is something popular and pervasive. Stop using it to mean "something I don't like".
Reconnaissance bikers of the JGSDF, intended to swiftly locate airborne forces of China/Russia landing in the Japanese mainland.
Backed when possible by their heavier scout cars
The iconic SEAL DPV which unfortunately for such a cool vehicle ended up being a bit shit
Danish FAV that I've never seen before
Custom vehicle? Humvee with a body kit?
How about an eight wheeled dune buggy with a 20mm Vulcan
>>30034232
I always wondered how easy it would be to flip up that thing.
Seems quite unwieldy for an off terrain vehicle
>>30034386
Rolls easily, gets stuck easily, can't carry shit, can be killed with a handgun
>>30034309
looks a lot like a modded humvee, yeah
The rare SRATS, based on a dune buggy similar to past FAV's but with a lot more armour, used by SOCOM.

Apparently it's a fast attack/recce version of the HUMVEE with composite armour called a Jülkat

fuck this thread is beautiful
Czech Hilux FAV
The Tatra guntruck motherships that accompanied the lighter vehicles
Note the British soldiers in the back, apparently Czech and Estonians chose to deploy under British command as part of Operation Herrick
Srs business here.
How practical would a survival vehicle like the V8 Interceptor be? Aside from looking cool, would it actually perform well in SHTF or realistically would it be a bad choice?
Singapore LSV Mk 2
Due to the central placement of the driver there can be a gunner on each side in addition to the turret!
>>30034792
If it was a good choice, it'd be used.
>>30034166
What are they armed with?
>>30034852
Probably Type 89's, looks like they have shell catchers attached
>>30034792
In SHTF you can count on main roads being blocked/jammed. In most places you're gonna need a well-equipped 4x4.
>>30034137
wow finally someone who knows what a meme actually is.
thank you. you have restored my faith in....you and you alone because you are not a meme.

Reminds me of the Gaucho
This thread is basically Mad Max for realizes.
I've had the plan to take an old tubular NASCAR frame, put on some proper body panels, and drop a fat diesel engine in it for full desert motorstorm fantasies. But I am terrible at /o/

So you don't know what a meme is.

You've got to keep in mind that the interceptor was perfect in the maf max shtf
>motorcycle gangs raid slow vehicles
>middle of Australia, road travel is necessary
>max already has a supercharged cop car
I would think that in most other shtf situations, fuel economy and the ability to get over a downed power line or tree would be important. Unless you are Lord humungus, being on the road will a last resort and you'll want to stay moving.
I think that a Subaru outback with a winch, good tires, steel plates in the doors and as much guzzoline as you can carry is your best bet
>>30034115
>nitrous and turbos are the same
You have to have a turbo just to FACILITATE nitrous use
>>30034128
>semi drive tire patterned tread
Yeah, good job Army
>>30039331
fuck, meant steer tire
>>30034792
that blower would suck so much sand it wouldn't be funny
and so would the exposed belts
Anything on road and incapable of harsh environments is zombie survival tier

Until, you know, you need ground clearance
Or your tires wear out
Or your symmetrical all wheel drive shits out
Or any other of the myriad of maintenance pain the asses happens
>>30039324
No you dont. Nitrous cools and increases the volumetric density of air. You can run it in your shit box if you want. The problem is your regular ecu doesnt know what to do with the extra air and cant put the necessary fuel through stock injectors to balance it out. You end up leaning the air fuel mix and blowing up your engine.
>>30039363
Ultra-dumbass question: Could one use nitrous AND a supercharger? Because I keep on hearing the forced-induction guys talk about the need to cool the air down as much as possible.
>>30039373
Yes. You still need injectors or a carburetor that can handle the necessary amount of fuel for the proper air to fuel ratio.
>>30039373
Compressing air heats it up and then it isnt as dense so there isnt a lot of gain. Turbos and some superchargers have intercoolers to cool the air back down so it gets dense again. Nitrous does the same thing without the need for an intercooler.
>>30039419
>Compressing air heats it up and then it isnt as dense so there isnt a lot of gain
Except there is as shown by the very widespread use of turbos, noob
Yeah, an air-to-air intercooler is certainly an upgrade, but saying there's little advantage to using a turbo without one is ignorant as fuck
>>30039373
Absolutely.
Nitrous is really niche and kind of a stupid thing to do to most engines, though. You're effectively doing the same thing as massively increasing the compression of your motor, and that can lead to a giant grenade under the hood if it's not built for it. I'd stick to traditional FI and just up boost (pulley swap if S/C) if you want to live dangerously. Nitrous is best left to competition drag cars.

>Nitrous is best left to competition drag cars.
The benefit of nitrous is that most cars can safely run a 100 shot (the numbers are horsepower boost) totally stock and it's super super easy to install, whereas a turbo system is total fucking aids to do without a decent budget.
Supercharging is somewhere in the middle but you still have to fuck with fuelling and such.
Whereas with nitrous you run your nos line, your fuel line, and get the right jets and you're good to go.

sprays are commonly much more popular in US tuned car scene(more specifically the big block crowd with big tire)..And the best example of this the Street Outlaw show on Discovery Channel...
I'm pretty sure back in S1,Murder Nova ran a spray big block..but in S2 he ran TT big block...If im correct...
