The stuff I've found indicates a bunch of contradicting conclusions. If interest I will bump with more pics
Sure, where do you want me to take it? Olive Garden?

Olive garden is a bit cheap, not a way to impress. Macaroni Grill.
The right side

Thanks, it's certainly postwar, looks like it has more in common with the Walther P1. Some were marked P38. Brighter pics of the slide would help.

Ahh wow you were showing off weren't you.
>>30006495
yeah I was thinking that as well, but it's curious to me, as there is no reinforcing bar, wartime era holes under sight, and thin slide with the half serrations

wut
I picked it up the other day; was listed at 450 but I talked him down to 370. I just want to know what it's worth even though I don't plan on selling it soon.
>>30006512
It's police or bund issued, so it is different from your standard P1. Take off slide and pics of bottom half?
>>30006473
Whoa whoa whoa....who said anything about dating. I thought this was just a hookup.
>>30006526
Still post the pics, but I see the dull sheen of alloy under the paint on the frame, which would mean it's a P38 marked P1 with no hex pin/crossbar. Don't go shooting any spicy ammo unless you want to crack the frame.
Good news is the eagles mean it was govt issued, so you have yourself a real west German Walther.

Shot some 115 grain after inspecting it yesterday
>>30006550
and here's the allow frame
>>30006588
Yea that's all it was made for really, ww2 115gr fmj. You might get hollow points to feed but nice find overall, certainly authentic. Price was average. The slide looks much prettier than the usual matte gray of a P1.
I am in the market for one of these to compliment my P99, I was so pissed when these sold out http://www.keepshooting.com/walther-p38-pistol.html

The same guys I got this from were selling an old widows husbands collection; She was just glad someone was willing to buy it when I offered, and I considered offering the same amount for an ac marked p-38 listed at 600$ but I didn't want to offend her just in case she knew what she was selling.
>>30006649
Damn gotta make those offers, better it go to you than to a pawn shop/lgs giving her $300 for it. Either way nice find, the action was way ahead of its time.
You could use it for self defense but I really wouldn't carry it, the rareness will increase its value over time.
You are going to want to check out the Walther forums on servicing the springs, shot placement is going to be key with this one lol.

Thats your month/year of manufacture.
Well its nice to know im not the only person who takes pics of my guns on wool blankets
