So ammo price aside, doesn't this gun outclass an SP101 in every way as a ccw?

Personally if you're thinking of getting a revolver for cc a smith and Wesson k frame will do you just fine. For winter carry the charter would be a good gun, but I don't see how it would be any better than a GP 100.
Another thing, the newer charter arms guns are okay-tier as far as quality goes. If you can track down an older gun then get it.

The .44 Special is an amazing round, but it has never been loaded that way from the factory. Even if you go to specialty guys who do legit Keith loads, they would eventually blast a Charter apart due to the relatively cheap/non-durable construction. It was built to withstand factory loads and that's about it.
The Ruger, meanwhile, is much more durably constructed, and .357 Magnum > .44 Special unless and until, again, one of those Keith level loads that will destroy a Bulldog is used.

Immaculate carry piece. Small package for a huge caliber like .44 Special but it is my abosolute ideal choice for stalking the streets of New York and shooting hookers.

There is literally no reason to buy a 44 special revolver. Just buy a 44 magnum and shoot specials out of it, then you have the option for 44 magnum when you want it (and you will want it at some point)
