why wasn't this thing replicated or reproduced? it seems like such an amazing looking weapon. Are the patents just not available for licensing? I would devote a good chunk of my time just making copies for kommandos with some pocket change to spare. maybe like 200 a piece or something. legally of course with a license to drill.

>>

it is. unless you're ripping on my grammatical errors. either case go sick a duck.
>>
>>29983040
I think he's saying you should be talking about how amazing it is at putting pieces of metal inside things at high speed, not how it looks.

But whatever, it's just fucking awesome.

Even if you reproduce it, you still have to sell them off.
That doesn't work out for Walther. Which is why this sweet piece discontinued.
>>
>>29983205
yeah but i'm saying that i'd just focus on a small amount to begin with. Walther wanted to make it like the next AK47 or some shit but he made it too accurate.
>>
>>29983019
There's a reason they cost a boatload. Once you see what it costs you to make one, you'll realize you can't make it for a profit below $5k.
>>
>>29983019
Because bullpup rifles have shit triggers and that rifle looks like it has horrendous ergonomics.

Walther screwed the pooch with the WA200 by thinking they could copy H&K's success with the PSG-1 at the same price point.

For reference, $9k+ in the 1980s is something around $22k+ in buying power in 2016 and that is a hard pill to swallow for police and small militaries.

The PSG-1 was able to be pushed since it shared the same logistics train the G3s many were already using had in place. The WA2000 was new from the ground up requiring significantly more investment than just the rifles themselves.

Its popularity is based off of cowadoody.
>>
>>29983424
It was popular long before that. Hell Tom Clancy loved it so much he put it in Rainbow 6 (the book).
>>
>>29983499

It was 'popular' among certain circles, maybe. It really embedded itself in the collective conciousness with is appearance in cowadoody.
>>
>>29983412
A pretty irrelevant issue unless you're shooting up close.
>>
>>29983205
A massive firearms manufacturer couldn't keep it afloat. But hey if you wanna make repros of a unicorn you've never touched while somehow covering the cost, you may as well make some P7s and Pythons too.

You may want to get to the doctor and have that brain checked out

Funfact: the PSG1 was never meant to be a military sniper rifle. It was a police rifle from the very beginning. The military variant would be the MSG90, lighter, cheaper and less expensive.
>>
>>29983424
bond uses one in the living daylights

apparently you can buy them for like 75,000 from the guy who runs walther usa. read that online somewhere
>>
>>29983637
He has the vast majority of them. I think something like 210 were made and he has 198.
>>29983625
Kinda weird isn't it? Usually it's the military stuff that costs more, because they have a national budget for bigger cooler toys.

>>29983653
Hm... yeah but then again its the police who can spend more on a single gun because they dont have to buy as many as an army.

It all comes down to the 1972 olympics where the germans really got buttfucked by some sandnigger terrorists. After this single event, there was no such thing as "too expensive" when it came to counter terrorism equipment for the german police forces. And the PSG1 is a child of that event

I'm far from an expert, but I never really saw Munich as having much of an impact with American policing/security.

It changed the mindset of americans on negotiations with hostage takers/terrorists.

Okc was the terror wake up.for us. Most american law enforcement had been focused on terror bombings and hijackings.

The day terrorists just have a nation wide coordinated shootum up in a public space or on the first day of school.....
