Good for handgun hunting and large animal defense, but aside from that, somewhat impractical. I'd love to see it in a carbine, but that has more to do with shits and giggles than anything else. It's a respectable concept that puts magnum power in a semi-auto friendly package, for better or for worse. A lot of people who buy magnums end up leaving them as safe queens b/c they're expensive and unpleasant.

just shot my 10mm RIA 1911, shoots easier for me than 9mm through any compact polymer pistol and negligible over full steel 9mms. ive never fired a 10mm glock / poly of any model but i imagine it's a significant difference.
also got a pile of plinking ammo for slightly less than higher end 9mm plinking, 50rd boxes for $18.50 ea so im set on ammo for a few trips

10mm is literally $18-20 / 50rd almost anywhere online, if you're out paying a gunshop $35-40 / 50rd you may be mentally impaired.

Crossbreeds can hide anything. You want to weigh your rig and relocate keys/wallet/knife/spare mag on opposite side of waist to balance out to avoid fucking up posture and hips.

There's a pretty big difference between that and "no difference in ballistics," though. Plus, the study did show a trend for calibers like .357 and .44 magnum. Just the "big three" came out roughly equal.

G29 with 200gr Underwood hardcasts is my woods carry. It's an excellent round for woods carry, but otherwise I stick to my 9mms for daily carry.

No, there is not a 1-1 correlation between the number of joules behind a round and the likeliness of it stopping a given attacker. Returns diminish, pretty quickly once you get into modern handgun calibers. It's like the gun equivalent of gold plate audio cords. Sure there's *a* difference, you can't really say the're objectively /worse/, but trying to squeeze out the last bit is never worth it.
44mag is a great round too but no one advocates it for conceal carry. the platforms that shoot 10mm are just too heavy and big for most people

10mm only makes sense as a semi-auto carbine caliber, occupying a middle ground where it is excessive for defensive handgun while still being underwhelming for anything much larger than a man. Case and load-wise it suffers from similar drawbacks to 45 ACP. There are better handgun cartridges for both man and animal stopping.
MP5/10 if I had to pick something as a good example of its ideal placement.

A cool round, but it's price point and lack of options is the deal breaker. Plus 9mm has yet to be shown as ineffective to me. 10mm makes an awesome PCC round and the fact that it's still good out of a handgun really makes it tempting. Got the Match. And it's shit because it cannot stand up to full power 10mm loads. I'm on my 3rd frame from EAA and the last time I sent it to them I asked if they give me a discount on a 9mm conversion slide for it. I got the conversion slide for "only 350". The slide stop will fail first because it's 2 piece design (the thumb piece is pressed onto the shaft). I got a 1 piece machined slide stop and then a box laster the frame is all penned up. Shoot some more and you got hair line cracks in the frame. This is with the heaviest spring you can get and a sprinco recoil reducer.

I carry a 19 for work. If I could afford to shoot my 20SF as much as I can shoot my 19, I'd carry it instead.
As is, I have a duty holster etc for the 19 and I have a lot of rounds through it in training, so while I'd feel slightly better carrying the 20SF, I know that realistically I'm going to be better off with the 19 for defensive stuff.
My 5'1 super petite girlfriend really enjoys shooting the 20SF though. One of my favorite things ever is having her outshoot dudes on the state guard qualification using the 20SF while they shoot 9/40/45
