It's actually a v. beautiful concept. All you need is a country to sell you newer kinetic penetrator projectiles and you can have a relatively cheap tank with a modern gun and the capabilities that allows for your respective banana republic to ball on a budget.

Because those countries still operate the M60A3 and this offers a very cheap upgrade to make it more effective compared to more thorough and expensive upgrades like the Sabra for example. Basically you get a cheaper and less capable Sabra.
