They were slow and awkward to reload.
They had less capacity.
They didn't have anywhere near the parts interchangeability.
They also lacked safety features the Army wanted.
Honest question, why don't paratroopers use bullpups when it's their army's standard rifle? British paras use AR-variants, Chinese use QBZ-03s, etc.
Honest answer. Because bullpups have certain benefits over the normal rifles that make them liabilities for paratroopers.
