F-16s. They're about to be super cheap when other NATO members upgrade soon, and you can't throw a rock on any NATO air base without hitting someone who's worked on them.
>>
>>29888095

considering your GDP, etc...

The Alca, its cheap, it flies, it goes fast enough, and you can stick missiles onto it and slave those to ground based radar. Perfect for a cheap defensive fleet.

But F/A-50 won't gonna get any significant variant improvement. Basically it's performance will always be around 80~85 percent of JAS-39D,while Saab will roll its NG variant, with more powerful engine, increased payload as well as more powerful aesa radar

Thats great anon, but nobody gives a shit.

Cost is obviously the primary concern.
>>
>>29889718
Actually you can get more powerful F/A-50 variant. It's just that since F/A-50 isn't the primary combat aircraft (not even secondary combat aircraft) for RoKAF, they are less compelled to arm it to the teeth like the swedes with their gripen NG variant.

Besides, South Korea also has their own 5th gen fighter project to attend to.

Among F/A-50 improvement that is offered to potential customers;
>F414 or eurojet engine
>up to 4 radar to choose from (including 1 aesa radar)
>targetting pod (either litening, sniper or ATFLIR)
>CFT tanks

>Implying Singapore wouldn't rape M'sia like Israel did to their neighbours.
>>
>>29889891

F/A-50 has comparable performance abd capability as JAS-39D and is capable of carrying advanced munitions (AIM-9X, AMRAAM/Derby, JDAM, Harpoon as well as other laser/IR/gps guided munition). Having targetting pods also means that no buddy-lasing is necessary. The alone puts it ahead of the shitty monkey model export MiG-29s Malaysia uses.

This isn't some make-believe fighter jets like hawk 200,M-346 or L-159. This is a legit MRCA. Once worst korea finished developong their own AESA (because Lockheed Martin being an asshole), you can expect similar development like what the swedes are doing with their Gripen NG

Nowadays the Armed forces of the Philippines (AFP) is in its aggressive mode to rearm and transform themselves into a capable conventional, network-centric forces, in the light of growing chink expansionism and neo-colonialism, as well as putting the armed forces in its rightful place; as the top dog of South East Asia

Id go for used Gripen C/Ds.

Cheap to buy, cheap to operate and since others in the region use them the maintenance cost should drop.
The purchase prize is the least important cost, life time and FH costs are way more important. Gripen is also designed to be used with minimum support and from poor airbases.

The F/A-50 looks good on paper but nobody here uses it so I assume the maintenance costs will be high.
>>
>>29890031
Other than South Korea, Indonesia,Iraq,Thailand and philippines are golden eagle users, and they're pushing it hard for USAF TX new generation trainer. They all will keep the price down due to economic of scale

Besides, you could get a new, upgraded F/A-50 at 1/3 the price of gripen NG

>A bunch of countries nowhere nere of croatia.

Its better than nothing, but they would still need to have a compleatly independent maintenance structure since all of those countries are really far away. Anyhow Im okay with giving you this one as I didnt know that many countries used the FA-50.

>Besides, you could get a new, upgraded F/A-50 at 1/3 the price of gripen NG

Wich is compleatly irrelevant to my argument wich was all about used Gripen C/Ds. Used Cs can be sold really cheap when the SwAF starts the transition to Gripen E in the next few years. But purchase price isnt (or atleast shouldnt) be the most important factor, getting the best aircraft with the least lifetime costs should be.

To be honest I dont know what would be the best option, but I wouldnt exclude the Gripen C.

A superbug is cheaper than a Gripen C, the model that actually has ok avionics.

This
Buying ex-US fighters means you have powerful logistics to deliver spare parts, tons of highly experienced US pilots as instructors and state of the art training facilities to send your pilots to.
The downside is the highly experienced US pilots got their experience flying the shit out the planes you're buying.
Swedish Gripens are all but factory new since they only have money to fly a few of them a couple of hours each year.

And I laughed at the Argies for buying Israeli Kfirs.
At that point it would be better to invest the money in wine yards or something because buying obsolete trash is just wasting your money.

This doesn't happen because flight technicians do maintenance on a plane after every flight, and determine whether its safe to fly it again. If it gets a 'No', it doesn't fly.

While not the cheapest its one of the best options
- comparable price wise with other good multiroll aircraft
- modern airframe and electronics
- still in production so you wont need to cannibalize
- not used to you should be able to keep them for a long time rather than buy some used jets that will just need major work or replacement in 10-15 years
and if you buy now i'll throw in this free blah blah blah

Fuckoff chink. Malaysia and Singapore will never come to blows. Both need each other. Its not in our blood too. Malays hate conflict while chinks see no profit in disrupted trade. Plus both countries politicians are in bribes with each other. Now, China. That's what we should start looking to sabotage.
>>
>>29893778
No, missiles up until recently are not plug and play, and even then, its not a common architecture quite yet.

Missile has its hardware and two way data link hardwired to jet. This is all hooked up by an innocuous metal thing the missile attaches to. the pylon.

That in turn is connected to fucking archaic military hardware that works off secrets and lies, and has nothing to do with a modern computer. Never forget that.

Its only with the F-35 and like block 60 falcons and other export aircraft that we are seeing plug and play comparability with munitions. Even then, it stops being so much hardware, and a metric fuckton of software.

Check this out. You dont just slap shit on an aircraft. You slap shit on it that is compatible, then program the computers to go "hey fuckwit, you have this, this, and this on you." and it adjusts the best it can to keep the aircraft in the air. If it doesnt not understand what is going on, you get unbalanced real fast, and crash shortly there after. Review F-15 during oddesy dawn.

going to sleep. Fuck. planes are cool, but make no mistake, their hardware is fucking stupid. You could literally replace 90% of all controls on an aircraft with a smartphone, but then it would need massive engineering to compensate for all the weight loss, and after that, you just might as well develop a new jet.

hence the F-35. The first attempt at something modern, and it hurts to make a new wheel, but we will be better for it in the long run.
