>Chip McCormick
>shitty wobbly tilty follower
>fails to feed once per magazine
>follower juts out after the last round and smacks my frame
>costs more than OEM ACT mags which actually work

Not even twice
>>
>>29862969
It actually may be you need to replace your recoil spring. Those shorter bbl 1911's need them replaced more often.
>>
>>29863225
Also used two ACT mags with no problems. Gun is brand new bro, so not the recoil spring. This thing works 100% when not using the CMC.
>>
So tell chip McCormick instead of bitching /k/
Shitloads of people get by just fine with CMC mags and there are more than just one line than your single mag
>>
>>29863963

Fuck you asswipe, I use a 1911 and I've seen Chips touted a good magazines before. Now that I know they don't even have a fucking anti-tilt skirt I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot fuckin pole.

Thank you, OP.
>>
on that note, what's the best 1911 mag with a standard flat steel base plate?
wilsons and such stick out more. I'm looking for something flush with the frame.
>>
>>29864112
They do make some with lower base plates

http://shopwilsoncombat.com/1911-Magazine-45-ACP-HD_P-Full-Size-7-Round-Lo-Profile-Steel-Base-Pad/productinfo/47C-HV/
>>
>>29864161
I'm not looking for mags that stick out a little bit.
I'm looking for flush base plates that don't stick out at all.
that's the tricky part.
>>
>>29862969
>>Chip McCormick

I got recommended Chip McCormicks all day long here and I had nothing but problems
Constantly would misfeed on the last round because of a bullshit follower design
Bought ACT mags and never looked back
>>
>>29864245
In that case you should go ahead with GI mags, they tend to be very reliable and you shouldn't have too many problems with them.
>>
>>29864112
Flush fits is a bad idea because you may not seat it properly

I've told this story before, but I'll tell it again

>sleeping
>hear yelling and scuffling outside of room
>mom screams my name
>defcon -9001
>immediately jump out of bed
>grab gun off nightstand
>mag in, rack slide
>pie fast as fuck out of my room to find mom fighting with someone in living room
>draw down
>guy breaks it off and leaves
>5 minutes later after calling police and making sure he was gone I look at gun
>magazine isn't seated and round was sticking up and out of the chamber

And after that day I vowed to never use a flush fit magazine again
>>
I've had good luck out of a RIA with Wilson combats.
>>
sort of a specific thing.
if you have a ruger ar556, do not use tulammo steel case in it.
i've had so many fucking malfunctions with it its not even funny.
just use remington whitebox
>>
>>29864315
Which is why they have several designs. 1911s aren't Glocks so between manufacturers there are variations.

Some people swear by power mags/power mag+, some by Wilson 47Ds, some by ACT etc and you can find articles for problems with all of them.

Find some Tripp Gen2 cobras or a powermag with trip followers if it's an issue and give that a shot.
>>
>>29864397
Wolf Gold, nerd
Cheaper
>>
>>29864406
I've never heard a bad thing said about 47Ds which is what I used after I got a screaming deal on some from a guy on here awhile back

ACTS are good range mags, but I hear they don't like drops
Hence why they're range mags

>Find some Tripp Gen2 cobras or a powermag with trip followers if it's an issue and give that a shot.

I'll just use my cheaper ACTs and use them
>>
I use the Wilson Combat magazines in my 1911s have had no problems out of them, thats what i always buy now. I've got a few power mags as well 8 and 10 rounders, and I've never had issues.
>>
>>29864323
sounds reasonable.
I just didn't know if the tilting follower was as huge a deal as people make.

Pro tip.....

Buy a real 1911 that is of high quality and you won't have problems with any mags.

Was talking about this today. My colts, les baers, dan wesson and even my springfield (old GI model they don't sell) all function without hiccups.

Seriously. If your gun doesn't like a mag, it's probably not the mag. The only 1911 issues I've ever had were problems feeding different bullets depending on shape and OAL when it came to old style (pre 1980s for most manufactures) and new style feed ramps.

I have probably 50+ 1911 mags and reload cast lead bullets.

While I have 10 les baer mags (knock off Wilson's essentially) a handful of wilsons, colts of various ages and some chips, I also have bargain bin specials I pick up here and there.

None of them fail in my les baer. Sounds like your gun is shit.

Mil spec best spec

Maximum parts compatible possible.
>>

Yeah, CMC mags are dogshit.
The follower design is terrible.

Hey Op I've got a full size Citadel and was having some failures to feed about 500 rounds in, replaced the mainspring and firing pin spring, not a problem since.

Apparently Citadels have kinda weak springs from the factory, just buy some Wolffs and call it a day, also I use Chip McCormicks and my gun loves them, especially the 10 rounders.
>>
>>29862969
Is it a flush fit 8 round?
The flush fits have a different follower to allow the 8th round and suck ass

I'm betting they're the 8 round flush fits which are known to be shit
Quite a few posts on the internet about them
>>
>>29864112
I use springfield mags, they are cheap and run perfectly with my semi wadcutter reloads. Supposedly act mags are the best, and they have different followers to choose from. Colt mags are also choice, there is even an 8-round flush plate.
>>
>>29864910
act mags best?
whose been telling you that?
act is a placeholder mag that ships with cheap guns
>>
>>29863305
Alright but I bet soon the next problem will be that it fails to return to battery every other shot. They ship those with shit recoil springs that only last a few hundred rounds.
>>

This. I polished up the feed ramp, got a better recoil spring, and only use wilson combat mags. My RIA officers model now works flawlessly.

I have all the guns I want but I am feeling the need to get as many as I can now before they all time out on the roster. Feels bad man. I should probably stick up on ammo before it gets impossible to get.

Believe it or not, mil-spec isn't a bad think for 1911s. Or a lot of other designs for that matter

>>
>>29864361

1911's by and large tend to have an "almost there" sticking point, and then depending on your grips and the radius/lack thereof around the bottom can be deceptive. That little extra plastic lip sticking out the bottom is a big help in ensuring correct seating.
>>
>>29864397
>White box
>3 qc check fail shit box

protip, just dont
>>
>>29865283

Believe it or not there is no such thing as "mil-spec".

The 1911 was designed and originated in a time where tooling and manufacturing was not precise and therefore each unit required hand fitting to some degree.

There are no original CAD designs to load up into a CNC machine and press play.

The only "true" "mil-spec" 1911 would be anything on the orginal tooling, which in todays day and age would only be Colt, but as of around 2010 they updated alot of their toolings and I doubt they use anything original anymore.

You are both right and wrong. You are correct about the hand-fitting thing... prior to WWI. To correct that problem, in the interwar years the US government issued "educational contracts" for 500 pistols apiece to several companies like Union Signal and Electric, Ingersoll-Rand, Singer, etc. Just enough pistols to cover the costs of setting up a production line; mainly so they could work out how to mass manufacture them to decent specs without needing hand fitting.

That is how we built 1.9 million of the fuckers in WWII. If you buy The Official 1911 Shop Manual, it has all the schematics and drawings for The Mil-Spec 1911. There is even a company still selling one, without any of the common features added after (lowered and flared ejector port, etc.) Springfield sells a "true" mil-spec.

I've had problems with both chip mckormick and Kimberly mags, Less with the momber, but still. I usually use the cheapest mags I can find with Wilson combat followers, and springs.

My full size citadel/RIA loves kimber and WC mags, had the same issue with CMC. Now that I found out my lgs has 8rd kimber mags for $20 new, I've just been stocking up

>>29864112
My Thompson mags are great. I just wish they weren't so expensive.
