They'll probably look exactly the same with a very similar kit and maybe a different camo-pattern uniform. In Star Trek TNG their personal computing devices are much more bulky than a normal iPad and I even remember and episode where one of the crew is searching for a quote from a speech and it takes the main Federation computer network hours to find the result. Google can do it in 0.1 seconds.

I've been getting into drone racing the past few months. The performance of these machines is mind bending. Lately I've been wondering what if drones like this were rigged up with hand grenade size explosives. Trained pilots could just fly one after another at the enemy and detonate when they get close.
The drone itself costs about $500. The goggles I use and the controller push the total price up closer to $1,300 for the total setup but the goggles and controller would not be consumed in the attack. $500 a shot is pretty cheap by military standards. They are small at only about 1 foot corner to corner and can hit speeds of 100 mph.
There are even over the counter night vision cameras people are using to fly these at night. The night vision cameras are like $30. It's not thermal vision, just vision in extreme low light. But even thermal vision is cheap these days. You can buy a "Flir ONE" for your smart phone for under $300 and get full thermal vision.
I think it would be pretty devastating just sending drone after drone at the enemy. If they do manage to shoot you down just boot up another and be in the air again in a matter of seconds.
