School me on AR10 rifles, /brg/, what's so good about them now and why should I get one?
I've never shot a FAL, G3 or scar-17 but I built and AR10 because I wanted something that was cheap but still real fucking nato and shit.
I was able to get the entire thing under six hundred USD. When shooting with it for the first time yesterday, and I'm quite pleased.

Build list please?
What do you estimate is the precision of it so far?

What do you guys think of the Stgw 57?
I will be buying one from a friend for 300 Swiss Francs.

They're super modular and easy to work on yourself, even if you have to navigate the different commercial patterns.

RDB done right; ergonomics done wrong.

Is that guy like 5 fucking ft or what?
Whats a good beginner BR? Only got like $600 to blow.

Blemished psa pa10 upper and lowers, combined were about 200 bucks. I got a ballistic advantage 308 barrel, an aero precision bcg and a cheapo free float key mod rail. Money went into barrel and bcg, and BA had a 1MOA guarantee on the barrel using match ammo.

Either CMP Garand, Century C308, or AR10 build. You might be able to snag an FN49 in that range too.

They're identical to AR15's operationally and give you a bigger punch than 5.56, and on top of it all the firearms are very easier to accurize for precision shooting.
Functionally, they're only ok unless you're really invested in AR15's.

Build a .308 AR our buy a M1 Garand; ignore the C308.

Because there's nowhere else it really fits, for going deer hunting should I load up some custom cartridges and take my stock Garand or convert my M91/30 to a PU and take that?

They're a bigger AR15. That's the advantage.
If you want something cool/special the AR10 is not really going to be that. Forgotten Weapons doesn't spend time on AR10s and AR15s for a reason.

I need another garand now
>>29800847
Oh lordy, I had fogotten about these. Why dont we see these out in the field yet? Is it too new? Is 30-06 to snowflakey for logistics? Is it overkill? Seems like an excellent way of slapping away VBIED's
Is steel cased 30-06 okay in a garand with gas plug regulator thing?
I wanna shoot my garand but I am too poor to afford brass cased ammo.

Why even bother when you can just use an SR-25 APC or something and get basically identical capabilities?
>>29801376
that hopco red dot looks pretty cool, but I get the feeling you'd catch a lot of shit for putting that on a nice Garand.
There isn't anything wrong with keymod on a battle rifle.
>>29801791
aimpoint, DD irons and magpul stock not included in the final total obviously but I had those already leftover from building two ARs

yea it took me over a year to do, just slowly buying things when I saw an awesome deal come up
barrel was here: http://ballisticadvantage.com/16-inch-308-tacgov-mid-ss-premium-barrel.html
but it was their "barrel of the week" so it listed at $200, and I had a 15% off coupon which basically gave me a free pinned gas block, and since I left I nice note in the order comments I found a free 308 birdcage flash hider in the box when it arrived
I have not tested the 1MOA yet but at 50 yards it seemed to shoot really well
