Ok so there are rumors of China building a nuclear power plant in the Spratly Islands. This makes attacking the islands almost impossible. How would you do it?
>>
>This makes attacking the islands almost impossible
nuclear power plants don't create force fields

>Attacking the islands almost impossible

How? Just bomb everything around it. We have guided munitions now.
>>
Get HAARP to send a typhoon to smash it.
>>
>>29774754
>This makes attacking the islands almost impossible.
Nonsense. Now all you have to do is damage one building, and the Chinese lose the whole region.
>>
>>29774754
How would a nuclear reactor make attacking the island impossible?

Try to make the enemy scared of a meltdown?
>>
>>29774754
Bitch if anything a nuclear power plant means this becomes Target numero uno.
Literally, just one bunker busting missile on the control center so the reactor over heats and starts to spew is all you need. You don't even need to put boots on the ground at that point.
>>
Because you're afraid of a meltdown? It's surrounded by an ocean of water, it's not goint to go supercritical.
>>
>>29774754

source on those rumours?
>>
>>29774754

So what? Just destroy everything else.
>>
>>29774784
The islands sit on a huge ecosystem. Reefs and shit would get destroyed if there is a leak, a lot of fishermen from the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and some other countries would get radioactive fish. It might close down the Straight of Malacca where a lot of International Cargo passes through. And ocean currents will probably carry radioactive water into the Great Barrier Reef causing innumerable amounts of mutated Spider Fishes.

The tremors from the explosions from nearby islands might cause ruptures in the tank.

You don't know how water works vis-Avis radiation, do you?

PROTIP: water is an excellent insulator of radiation.

Not with that attitude

Send in antman

Done

>bring CG over
>destroy everything
>go on a rampage and capture all of china

Ignore the islands.

The islands are only a threat to the SEAsian nations they were stolen from. NATO/Australia/Japan could spam missiles all day from submarines. Though they don't have to. They will just own the ocean and air around the islands and remove them from the battle.
>>
>>29774877
What about sand or scrap metal that's been irradiated and then carried by the current to different parts of the Pacific?
>>
>>29775062
Water is an effective enough insulator that unless you actually touch it, you'll be fine.

Remember, you can swim in a nuclear reactor's spent fuel pool.
>>
>>29774754
>Implying the US wouldn't accept the risk in a heartbeat, if China raised the stakes enough.

At best it lets China raise the stakes just a little higher than before, without having to worry about the US pushing their shit in just yet.

As for how I'd do it? JSOW/LRASM the fuck out of everything that isn't the reactor. Tell a regiment of Marines to volunteer for the mission of escorting a NEST team in to shut down the reactor.

Problem, China?
>>
>>29774754
Holy fuck Wang, chill on the threads for a bit.

We know you want us to help you develop your military strategy and possibly leak confidential information, but if you keep up this pace your marks are going to start getting a clue.
>>
>>29775085
>>29774877
Look we get it you read the XKCD article but that's talking about a fairly specific scenario.

Radioactive particulate waste is an actual concern. There are plenty of examples of leaked radioactive waste leaking into groundwater or into rivers, and even when it settles completely on the bottom having a toxic silt layer is still a big problem.
>>
If the US military is directly involved in a conventional war with the Chinese military, the environmental ramifications will be the last thing on anyone's mind.
>>
>>29774754
cool, now you put all your important shit on like 3 islands that look just like the target runs that bombers do.
-3.25 yuan for you
>>
>>29774854
Kill two (two billion?) birds with one stone.

No more chinks on the artificial islands, no more Islamic jungle chinks, and even more horrifying mutant murder-beasts to attack the Aussie shitposters when they go swimming.
>>
>>29774754
Just wait for a typhoon to fix that problem
>>
Who actually gives a fuck? If they don't want their stolen islands blown the fuck up, they shouldn't build legitimate military targets on them.

just sent a 75th devgru seal marine paras with gliders, and a motor boat full of casowary

>China building a nuclear power plant in the Spratly Islands. This makes attacking the islands almost impossible. How would you do it?

That are sound stupid.
We gonna sent SEAL Team in, plant the bomb, Blow the whole base out.
Save our army time, ammo and fuel to capture the base.

>>29774754
How can China justify their claims to that sea when so much of it extends way past China right down into the Philippines and Malaysia?
>>
>>29775354
because it's named as The South China Sea
honestly that's it

They can't. That's why it raises tensions in the region. If China could justify its claims, the rest of the world would say, "dang, China, you make a good case. No problems here. Carry on." And that would be that. Case in point: Hong Kong.
>>
>>29775452
Well, what is their official excuse for doing it anyway? They've still gotta say something to the rest of the world pointing at them.
>>
>>29775354
Because they can.
Look back to the Vietnam era in 1974, the meeting between Henry Kissinger and Chinese's prime minister Chou En-lai.
BAM! China attacks and takes Paracel islands which were in control of the South Vietnam.
The South Vietnam called the 7th feet navy nearby to support and retake the islands but nothing from America's force.
You have been played from the begin, poor South.

Why am I talking about this? Because since China got a hold of Paracel islands, they see the potential of all the Spratly islands nearby too.
America made to many mistake in the Vietnam War era!

Their official excuse dives up its own as into Han supremacy, cultural revisionism that let's them believe that they weren't getting chewed out by local warriors on any occasion that they weren't fighting other empires for the same clay.
>>
>>29774754
Easy, send in a huge landing craft with nuclear reactors / waste / other bs on board that would make a big mess if they attacked it. "MAD"
