There was no reason to use it compared to the .308 Hunting Rifle.

Super sexy and my favorite rifle of New Vegas
The designers somehow made a M16A1 flawlessly fit into the old west/cowboy aesthetic the game was going for

Would love to try to build one some day

I loved that thing but the sights we're fucking terrible on 2/3 of the guns. Better than non but I still played 3rd person a lot. Once you get the camera distance set to your actual POA to be POI it's pretty alright

Where do you even get wood A1 style furniture?

I want to get an AR with the trigger charging handle under the carry handle, with super hot wood furniture.

Trying to figure out a Service Rifle build:

>XM16E1-style lower, except for a tiny mag release and the magwell channel on the wrong side
>A2 upper without dust cover, no charging visible
>20" bbl
>Wood A1 furniture, though the PG is A2-style
>20rd; waffle mag, perhaps?

Don't know about a muzzle device to mimic that.

>A2 upper without dust cover, no charging visible

The charging handle protrudes from the ejection port like on an AK or AR18 variant (except that it lacks a slot extending back behind the port, which I suspect would prevent it from working).

>>29767349 definitely looks closer to an AR18 than an AR15, but both versions seem to be a mix parts from each.
>>
>>29767364
You're going to want an A1 upper, the A2 has an elevation dial beneath the windage knob.
>>
>>29767321
Its not AK furniture, and considering how much people will spend on just a stock, forearm, or mount for an AR....what do you think.

So, amplifying information:
Most of the parts are PSA, and numbers include shipping and transfer fees.

1, .308 ARs aren't standardized like AR-15s are. AR-10 is the Armalite standard, LR-308s are basically the DPMS standard, and some manufacturers have their own specs. A lot of this stuff is proprietary.

For example, the lower parts kit used with a PSA lower is basically an AR-15 lower, except for 4 parts. PSA sells them as a "PA-10 Upgrade Kit" for $20, and they're proprietary. It ended up being cheaper to buy their AR-15 lpk and upgrade kit than to just buy the PA-10 kit.

The DPMS spec is basically AR-15 parts, except where the parts have to be larger for .308 purposes. So, gas tubes, gas blocks, buffer tubes, etc, are AR-15, therefore, DPMS spec is cheaper.

Had the price of the BCG wrong: was $141 shipped. http://www.wcarmory.com/toolcraft-inc/toolcraft-bcg-308-bolt-carrier-group-black-9310-mpi-complete.htm lacks forward assist serrations, unfortunately. Gimme a minute to find the Amazon parts.

The goal behind this build was inspired by PSA daily deals, and was to see how cheaply I could build a .308 AR (that wasn't a fugly 16" build). Most of the big pieces were bought on sale, and I read a TON of reviews. The only parts I think may be a little sketchy are the buffer tube kit, gas block, and muzzle brake, but they're all nothing fancy, and the brake got good reviews.

So, we'll see if the damn thing works once put together. Should be able to hit the range Saturday or Sunday the 7th or 8th, rest of the parts come in around the 4th.
