1.) Go to a gunstore
2.) Ask them if they accept online transfers and what their requirements and fees are for said item. Then get the FFL information from them or ask them to fax it to the online store.
3.) If it's okay, go home and order it online. Most online gun retailers have tons of FFL's already logged so you may not even need the gunstore to fax their information.

4.) When its at the store have them call you then go in to pay the transfer fee and get the NICS check and ATF paperworks done.
Whole process can be a few days or a month depending on online retailer and shipping/in stock items.

In addition to what they said, try and shop around for FFL holders in your area that will do the transfer. Gun stores near me all want like $40 - $50 for transfer, but I found a pawn shop that does it for $25.
