So /k/, what do you think of the idea of having a sling as a sort of concealed carry weapon?

carrying a gun is way more accurate and reliable
but if you're in a communist/socialist country where the king has deemed the peasants too dangerous to own real weapons, it'll do.
Because at close range you will get fucked. If someone grabs you, or is close enough to get to you before you load, and twirl your sling, you'll get skullfucked.

you really can't defend yourself with a sling. you can ambush , maybe hurt someone , eventually kill him with a lucky shot but that is more of an offensive weapon than a defensive one.
except when you're holding a place and you know for sure someone's going to come to fuck you up but that's pretty rare nowadays

I wouldn't want to get hit with a lead sling bullet but I also wouldn't be expecting to use it if somebody tried to mug me. You can't fire a sling through your pocket or pressed directly against your attacker.
If you started pelting somebody walking alone through a park or something I'm sure it would work fine. Pretty much any other circumstance makes it less than ideal though.
