Holy shit that makes me mad as a 49/56 owner. Those guns are so beautiful.
>>
>>29594087
I've seen worse. Didn't take a picture, but it was a 49/56 with polymer stock, picatinny rails and a scope mount.

It's weird to see Bubba'd MAS' that have been recently defaced and not sporterized in the 50s. I mean it's not like 7.5 French was ever really a common round outside of maybe the Post-WW2 influx of milsurp and the CAI .308 converted MAS that exploded.

It will foever trigger me that Century fucked the MAS like that and gave my gunfu such a bad name.

If it's any consolation, I unfucked it. The grip was screwed and glued in

Why? Does a stupid grip like that provide any advantage to a fucking MAS 49? Wtf is wrong with people?

Only half decent bubba I ever saw on a mas.
>>
>>29594615

I'm also not understanding this

An SKS \ Mauser \ Enfield \ etc getting sporterized is always kind of a shame but at least that makes sense. The guns are/were cheaper than factory new hunting rifles and came in an adequate (SKS) or 'if it bleeds we can kill it' (Mauser and especially Enfield) hunting round.

Unless there is some niche country with bizarre import or ownership laws I can't imagine getting a MAS and bubba'ing it being cheaper or easier than doing the same to an SKS. Especially if you are planning on firing 7.5 French with regularity and don't reload.

Most of the Bubba's specials I have dealt with are less a matter of cost and more a matter of simply having it sitting around.

Original buyer sells it, Bubba gets a deal and goes to town. Or Bubba picked it up at a gun show for cheap with a bunch of ammo, so why not?

Most people don't place a great deal of value on the historical value of surplus firearms until they see the Mosin they just butchered sell for $300.

My boss, for example, once cut the crap out of a Springfield, drilled and tapped it for a scope (fixed 4x, of course) only to find out that it was in 30-03. At the time, he was out $10.
>>
>>29597349
I want to say any MAS that got bubba'd, did so because bubba doesn't give a shit about collector value, and it's just a cheap semiauto to him. Or maybe bubba is an older dude who wants a little more stability and handguards are cheap enough to replace, like in this case. It's inexcusable to me in either case.

>ruining a 30-03 Springfield
how did he not check that it was 30-03 before fucking it?
what a retard
>>
>>29597518
He was in his teens at the time, and still managed to flip the rifle after destroying it. At the time, 30-03 could still be found commercially, but was on it's way out.

He literally ordered it from a print ad, and I imagine he expected to receive a 30-06.

Mad props.
>>
>>29598613
Yeah m8, the rifle may not be in the best shape, and the finish is very worn but at least I could get a replacement handguard and its in 7.5 French Fry. I also got like 4 mags for 100 which is cheaper than anything on gunbroker
>>
>>29598724
I think anywhere except Cheaper Than Dirt, is cheaper than gunbroker.
