How did they survive wearing mostly just these jackets?
These aren't very warm in spite of being wool.
A lot of them didn't.

Still had great coats I'd imagine.
The weak died, and when they did the strong had two jackets.

When I think about it, I imagine a comical scene of a Russian trying to search a German POW and continuously getting befuddled by how many jackets the German is wearing, with his search never ending.
Kinda like one of those nesting egg toys, but with coats.

they had the great idea of one piece coveralls for their tropical uniform.
Sgts should be in charge of small ticket acquisitions. They know what is really needed. Leave the big ticket items to the brass.
