I am building a high end .308 AR build and I am stuck on what optic to get. I feel like a ACOG would really limit the range of the rifle so I am debating buying a Zeiss HD5 5-25x50 Rapid-Z 800.

>what other options would you look at?

Id like to keep it below $1500 so S&B and Nightforce are out of the question.
>>
>high end AR

Poorfags actually believe this
>>
>>29586252
uso MR-10 ?
>>
>>29586348
>wanting to keep it under $1500

Pardon meant the ST-10 TPAL
>>
>>29586331
The fuck would you call a $2500 rifle
>>
If you aren't buying a Schmidt and Bender you are doing it wrong
>>
>>29586692
>$2500
>non-surplus semi .308
Pretty sure that's about the mid level.
I'm not even fucking joking.
>>
Isn't Zeiss more of a hunting optic?
>>
Affordable, high end optic = IOR Valdada
Good glass, nice range of options
>>
>>29587010

then what is a high-end .308?
>>
>>29587168
North of $5K. Seriously.
Think GA Precision, etc.
>>
>>29587190
thats just stupid tier. It literally does nothing a $2500 AR10 cant do
>>
>>29587190

the website shows their .308 AR is 3k. and all their mil-spec bolt guns are still below 5k
>>
>>29587168
Legit SR25. I think they did a limited run of 5 and they cost 23000
>>
>>29587275

that's not high-end, that's fucking collector-level shit.

A swfa 5-20hd
>>
Burris XTR II
>>
How far do you plan on shooting? Seriously, 25x is a lot of magnification. I'd just get a Nightforce SHV 4-14x F1 and be done with it, they're $1,250 from Sport Optics.
>>
>>29586252
SWFA or you're a faggot.
>>
>>29587735
1000m. I do feel like the Zeiss is a little overkill, I dont really want a hunting scope on the rifle but I'd like more than 12 magnification.

And shit tracking. Friend went through 2 bef9re he gave up trying to get cons8stant tracking

>>29586252
Rapid z 800 is for faster calibers than 308 iirc. Might be thinking doa 600 by bushnell

>>29587885
The shv 4-14 would be better than the ziess. Z-800 wont get you to 1000
>>
>>29587963
>>29587956
It's not impossible but it's not ideal and I don't think OP will be pleased with its performance at those ranges.
>>
>>29587956
1000 yards is not 1000m

1000m is still doable, but a long stretch for a 308.
>>
>>29587956
>>29587968
>>29587966
I dont plan on shooting MUCH at 1000 most of it will be 5-700 but occasionally I would like to push it out to 1000.

Get a 20moa rail.

Swfa 5-20 hd scope

Or burris xtr2
>>
>>29588043
There is no point to be made, 30 MOA is totally manageable.
1000m is doable if your ammo is good, and your ballistic calculations are on point.

.22LR at 300m requires 50MOA, and people do it regularly, myself included.
>>
>>29588050
Why are so many people on SWFA's dick?
>>
>>29588032
With a 20moa rail.... It doesnt need it.
>>
>>29588209
Dollar for dollar there is no better deal.

It is high quality Jap glass.
>>
>>29588233
Why would you need a 20moa rail to reach 30moa of elevation?
>>
>>29588209
The best scopes for the money in the <1000$ range.
>>
Leupold MK4. Buy Murrican dammit.
>>
>>29588280
Use a 20 moa rail and only 10 moa on your scope.

Keeps you more to the center of the optical path of the scope. Where optical defects are a minimum
>>
>>29588285
Fuck that they are the best in the sub 1500 range.

After that the IORs.

Every one is on vortex's dick , but the swfa and IOR are better. Same warranty, better scopes.
>>
>>29588342
If you want really American US Optics is the only one I know that makes all their own glass
>>
>>29588850
Because american glass is known to be so great....

The germans and japs would like a word with you.
>>
>>29589093
I never said it was, I was only saying that because the guy might have been under the impression that leupold is an all american product

Retarded.

Maybe on their superpremium scopes, but I bought a midrange one a month ago that was chink glass and assembled in the Philippines.
>>

Was it the tacticool illuminated 3x one?
>>
>>29590881
No, it was a fuddy LER 2-8x.
>>
>>29590927
Whoops. 2-7x. Their ~$400 pistol scope.
>>
What's a good bdc scope that is stadiometric? And are there any companies that will carve glass for you to have installed in a different scope?
>>
>>29591358
Reticles of your own design is gonna be pricey. Id contact leupold custom shop and ask

>>
>>29586252
Go 6.5 Creedmore sucka
>>
>>29591604
Yeah I figured it'd be pricey. I just figured if I'm gonna be spending dickloads on a scope anyway may as well go for the whole cool package.
>>
Zeiss is literal shit. All of their reticles suck
>>
>>29592421
Decent hunting scopes.

Hendsolt for tactical.

Depends on whoch models. The razer amg is 100% in house. The razors come out of japan. LOW is suspected butnot confirmed. Vipers are out of the phillipenes. Diamond back and crossfire are from china.
>>
Just get a ACOG, they are good for man sized targets to 600m

leupold mark 4 is what sass and sr25's are dressed with, prolly some good reasons for that.
>>
>>29596639
Because that was the latest when the sass came out. Which was forever ago.
>>
>>29594487
LOW for the stuff you want to buy...
>>
>>29597724
Dont say it like that. Most guys here would be pumped for a viper which are coming out of the philipennes
