Do these simulate full auto to a decent extent or are they just a meme? Anyone have one?
Yes, they do "simulate" full auto fire pretty decently, and I say the word "simulate" loosely. They're fun for sending lots of lead down range really quickly, but that's about it.
Get one if you have a spare lower lying around and you find one for a good price.
They're alright as long as you realize you're just buying a fun, fuck around range toy
Slide fires are out. Gat cranks are in:

What would happen if one were to put a bumpfire stock on a select-fire rifle?
Got an ak one, works well, fun.
On a bipod with a drum its pretty impressive.
A must have for shtf? No .

Check out the bumpfire SAW thread on arfcom. Some of those shits are neat as hell, see e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VWED4qUPMs and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Hrgh5txFKg or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SOm7FMQGyA

Rofl, people like he and I posted about it a while back but we got a lot of hate. Nice to see /k/ coming around to it.
On that note I'm thinking of building my first AR-15 or buying a completed AR-15 and swapping out for the Echo Trigger. Any advice on how I should go about this; I've not any experience with the AR-15 so anything you guys can offer will help. Right now I'm most leaning towards buying either a Colt Expanse ( M4 AR-15, http://www.colt.com/Catalog/Rifles/Expanse-M4 ) or an an Eagle 15 Mission First Tactical ( https://armalite.com/shop/eagle-15-mission-first-tactical/ ) and swapping the regular trigger for the Echo.

The Eagle-15 is a pretty damn good rifle for the price imo, I have one and I love it
