Why is duty 24 hours long? Why couldn't it be 8 or 16 hour shifts? Staying up for 24 hours can't possibly be healthy.
What's "duty"?

Why are you complaining about staff duty?
Would you rather be in the motor pool getting exhaust samples or bugging the supply sgt for grid squares?
>thank you for your service

"CQ" and "Staff Duty" to us Army fags

Staff Duty or Charge of Quarters
You sit in a room, staring at a phone and making sure nothing bad happens for 24 hours.
My unit does CQ from 1600 to 0800 on week days (Normal 24 shift on weekends and DONSAs) When we had a battalion SD, it was the same deal, but to 0930 so S1 could get to work.
Marines do that shit in a dress uniform? Fuuuuck

Because the Red Cross can call at all hours.

Yeah, part of Amos' "Awakening". Glad I got out before that.

Oh, I've done something similar to that but ours is twelve hours long.
Of course it's an RAF base so when an officer comes in and sees a British Army Lance Corporal sitting behind the desk they just say they'll come back later.

not really "dress uniform" as much as their class C uniform, aka Chucks. Strange things happen in the bricks late at night when you are on duty

>can't possibly be healthy
neither is gettin' shot bitch.
enjoy your desk time.

I just don't understand why they start it at 0900/0930.
Start that shit at 0630 so I'm not up for 3 extra hours just to do a few goddamn pushups.
>our taxes hard at.... zzzz

>so I'm not up for 3 extra hours just to do a few goddamn pushups
that's exactly why they do it. because some CSM somewhere realized that soldiers were missing TWO days of PT for one 24hr shift of CQ/Staff Duty and we can't have that.
