OP is trying to find a good autoloading rifle in somthing similar to .270. I'm looking want something that can go through level III+ armor for no more than $1.20 per round. A rifle is useless if you can't afford to shoot it. $2500 price range.

M1 Garand?
Remington 7400. Semi-auto .270. Boom, there ya go. Get a pre-Cerebus one if you're worried about it.

Browning BAR Longtrac in .270. There are some ARs offered in 300 WSM. Benelli R1 in 270 WSM.

Caveat: I peronally don't have a 7400, I've got a 7600, which is basically the same gun but it's pump action instead of semi-auto. Only real difference is the action is worked by hand instead of by gas.
Moving on. Mine is more accurate than I am, by a damn sight. It's a hunting rifle, it's pretty accurate. Maybe not super duper ultra long range 1000 meter hot rod rig, but absolutely good enough and then some.
My dad is a lefty and he has no problem at all with my 7600. You should be fine.

How far are you planning on shooting
I can hit something the size of a soda can at 200yrds with iron sight with mine
You could always get one of the sniper variants with the offset scope
