So what is /k/ hoping will be the next Russian service rifle? The AK-12 or A-545?
>>

They adopted both.
>>
>>29499456
isnt the a545 a modernized/overhauled aek971?
>>
>>29499468
They adopted neither.
>>
>>29499468
Strange seeing as the actual decision isn't due yet, they're both in operational trials.

They'll waffle around with both, because that's what Russians do with small arms. Neither will be adopted in large numbers, just enough for parades and special units. Most special forces and internal security forces have heavily modified their AKs anyway.

It better not be the on in your pic, because stocks like that are complete ass.
You may as well give me a godawful underfolder stock while you're busy ruining my cheek weld and ability to find my irons quickly.

AK-12 is more ergo, give it to front liners
A545 is cheaper, so reserves and guards get it

This will happen in the mid to late 2020s
>>
>>29499456
They are going to keep the AK74M forever, maybe with some furniture upgrades.

People thinking that the AK-12 will be widespread are being silly.
>>
>>29499456
Doesn't really matter.

The one officially adopted will show up in larger numbers, but the other will still hang around.

But the military will still issue 74Ms as their service rifle, because Russia.

In the same way that they "adopted" the AN-94
Russians are going to stick with the AK74M and just stick rails on it
>>
>>29499468
This is what the USSR would have done
>>
>>29499456
The A-545 is a pretty sweet design. LAV had nothing but praises for the counter balance system during his time in Russia.

I'd love to see widespread adoption but I agree with everyone else that the AK74 will be the mainstay until they have to copy America's cased telescoping rounds.
