Had a friend who was here on a visa. He always wanted to be American, but never got the residency cause he had shitty luck and kept getting laid off due to seniority shit when downsizing came around. However, while he was working towards getting the green card or however that works, he was really starting to get into guns and was pro gun as fuck. He always talked about how he wanted to vote and bare arms and even go to jury duty simply because to him it meant being a part of the system. He even wanted to enlist, but I talked him out of it. Anyways, he bought himself a mauser through a private sale at a gun show once. He called me up and I was pretty proud cause he was pretty bro and a great friend, so we went out and shot the thing and had fun with other friends and shit. Then, months later, he gives me a worried call regarding the rifle and shit. Turns out he didn't do his homework, and I didn't know either because fuck it, didn't think it was any different. Apparently, it was very illegal for him to have that rifle because he didn't have a hunting license or something, and the fishing one he had didn't cover it obviously, and that could've cost him everything. In the end, he ended up moving back, and now lives in some other shithole country, since he's doing some kind of mission work there or whatever. Years later when I asked him about the rifle again, he said he simply just left it and all the thousands of rounds he bought in the attic of his place when he sold it.
