>>
>>29469234
Azerbi forces have a clear advantage with regards to artillery (they got TOS-1's, Smerch, T-155's, ATMOS 2000's and Msta's). Which they will use over their air assets as they don't have the equipment to spare (still have an aerial advantage over Armenia as Armeni only got 11 SU-25's) and Armenia has a decent amount of AA equipment.

>>29469263
holy shit that is hilarious, im going to start following him now on twatter
>>
>>29469288
that was in the 90's. I wouldn't say they suck now considering the Azerbi government has sunk money into modernizing and training their armed forces.

In addition, there might be the possibility that they've learnt from their mistakes. Im not saying they're amazing, but to state that they still suck is a bit presumptuous. We'll see how good they are soon enough.
>>
>>29468928
The Armenians kicked the shit out of the Azeris during the breakup of the USSR, but the Azeris have used the interim period to buy an assload of newer equipment and gear. The Armenians still have extensive dug in positions and the combined NKR-Armenian army, so I believe it would still be a close affair if the war heated up again. Would also be interesting to see how Russia, Turkey, and Iran react.

That's were you're wrong. Armenia has always been supplied and backed by Russia. Even to having a defense pact. The geopolitical situation with Russia and the two is that Putin doesn't want the two to escalate, otherwise he'll be forced to lose influence with Azerbaijin and aid defenses from Armenia.
>>

not gonna happen. not aftr the recent tensions.
also, regarding azerbaijan, how likely is it their military suffers from the same problems the arabs have, i.e. good equipment but poor training, poor organisation and an overboarding bureaucracy with no delegation? Their situation seems comparable, they are both rich in resources, ruled by a de-facto dictator who has to live in constant fear of a coup, and their muslims and therefore bring similar cultural prepositions into the equation.

They are probably not up to western standards but they are probably up to Russian ones. Same level as the Armenians. The Azaris also have a relationship with Israelis so they might have received some training from there too. They might be Muslim but saying that that determines military competence would be like claiming French soldiers have same competence as Congolese ones. Arab military incompetence is due to a long list of cultural and political factors, Islam plays a rather small role in technical competence and a rather large one in moral.

But Armenians are fighting for survival, lose NK and they are done. Armenians have a good relationship with Iran, a counter balance to Baku-Ankara. Loosing NK means loosing that life line. So they will fight, just like in the past with much grater moral and the courage of a desperate men.

If it does escalate into a real war, the question will be will the Armenians be able to survive until Russia resolves the issues, by any of the means available to it.

The portion of the west that makes up the actual forces of NATO would not, at this particular juncture, decide to possibly start WWIII over a majority Muslim country whose government appears to have actively been trying to agitate some kind of conflict for a while now. Sorry. Not going to happen. Even if it kills NATO or it gets Turkey kicked out they aren't going to mobilize troops to help, ESPECIALLY American troops.

They are, but they're very blood thorsty against us Armenians. We literally hate each other, the last conflict ended up with the both of us attempting erhnic cleansing in the region. Yes. We're very dependent on Russian trade and commernce in our military. Most of our equipment and indigenous firearms were highly influenced on them. They are also Turkic, but more importantly there is a large Azari population in the north west Iran and they make a large majority of population in the region around Tabriz. So from Iranian point, if NK falls, so falls Armenia and than the Azaris could come for Iranian territory, and there already is a conflict there, primarily political but it could escalate. And short term, Iran and Turkey are competing in the same region for dominance, Ankara is brother to Baku to Tehran has to be a cousin to Armenia to keep the balance and presence.

>>29470876
For a period now Turkey has been growing and as such has sought to expand its influence on its region. And that brings it in conflict with Russia on more than one front. Russia has been in decline and is looking for a way to reverse that and that means they have to strengthen their power in their region.

The West falls into two camps, US is willing to fight and contest even in serious situations, such as with Russia, but lacks resources to be everywhere. The shift to East Asia is the issue of US national security and takes precedence over contesting East Europe and the Caucuses from Russia so US is and will look for local allays, say like Poland and Turkey to counter Russia, they will do it for their interests but the overall result falls in line with US strategy. While the EU countries have no desire to challenge anyone, and are willing to exercise might only on people who can't strike back.

If it come to blows, US will help Turkey and EU will moan and bitch but do nothing until winner is known.
>>
>>29471156
Aliyev visiting Washington is irrelevant, as Armenia's president was also in Washington just two days ago. Also, even though Russia wants to look like they have a neutral stance, they give free shit to Armenia and charge Azerbaijan for military hardware.
>>
>>29471200

They 'give free shit' only cuz they border turkey and russia wants s-300s and s-400s as close to Turkey as possible.

Armenia does pay for a large amount of hardware.

Azerbijan has been spending millions lobbying the US for better relations.

http://foreignpolicy.com/2015/06/11/how-azerbaijan-and-its-lobbyists-spin-congress/

also, that's because Azerbi ground equipment tends to be newer than Armenian equipment.

For example: Azerbijan has 100 t-90's, the Kornet and BMP3's and Smerch's and TOS-1's while Armenia has t-80's, Konkurs and BMP 2's and other older equipment.

The tanks sound reasonable, as for the dead troops, both sides are bullshitting.
>>
>>29471642
kinda. The fact that they've shown dead Azeri troops but no downed tanks doesn't necessarily raise suspicion, but I have yet to see any pics of those. And considering the Armenians have been quick to show off pictures of dead enemy combatants and destroyed equipment, Im left wondering if its just that they haven't been uploaded yet or they are bullshitting. Plus no reports of Azerbi tanks in use (as of yet).

All im saying is im waiting to hear more on the info the Armenian guy has brought up.

>They are probably not up to western standards but they are probably up to Russian ones. Same level as the Armenians.
This meme again. Which western forces are we talking about? US, French, and British are definitely head and shoulders above but compared to say Germany and they are there with it.
Also Russians have showed themselves time and time again to be a peer force with the big 3 of NATO if only in skill(equipment is getting there with the rearmament efforts), even before the reforms that have improved them they handily stomped the Georgians who are actually in a very similar status with regards to skill with the Azerbaijans- having recieved training and advice from Western-leaning militaries.
>>
>>29471685
There are a few issues with with. The Armenian side doesn't allow any footage to be shot, it doesn't even want people uploading the movement of military hardware within the country. Now the funny thing is, Azerbaijan denied the downing of a helicopter, until Armenia released the footage, so I'll just leave you to ponder at that.

only states that have signed the Ottawa treaty "can't" (wont) use land mines. And at most you could be taken to the ICC for using them after signing onto the treaty. But they aren't banned under the geneva convention and you can always opt out of the treaty before using them.

TLDR: states ethically opt out and it isn't illegal under international law

No one is else is going to be involved, they'll want the status quo to continue and push for peace. The conflict is solely integral to the belligerents, there is no proxy involved here regarding Nagorno-Karabakh and no other nation wants to be involved in a territorial dispute that doesn't concern them.

You're better off just discussing Armenia/NGK and Azerbaijan's military actions.
>>
>>29473116
Perhaps they will help overthrow Aliyev with limited troops and will concentrate on sending guns and advisors to the kurds to help ousting Erdogan and will let Armenia and Russia take care of Erdogan if he is not down after the defeat of Azerbaijan. A total military victory over him would not even be necessary, just enough to oust him.
The persian dominance over the south caucasus would be fortified and the turkish kurds would be best friends with iran in the aftermath and perhaps we will even see a kurdish state arise.

Huntington pls, Azerbijan can't do more than take all of Nagoro-Karabakh and even then the Christina refugees would just settle in Armenia. For them to make the trek all the way to Georgia would be stupid.

Even then, Georgia wouldn't intervene in either side because they still want to play the middle man now that they've left Russia's sphere of influence. They got luke warm relations with both countries so it seems illogical to think they'll come to the aid of Russia's key ally in the Caucasus.

That's a smart policy. To be honest, they whole thing about the Syrian War making for good footage has a lot to do with syrians apparently being completely fucking stupid and telling the entire world what they're doing and when and where and how and with what strength.

Ukraine footage is mostly either strait propaganda, or doesn't seem authorized. Just posted by volunteers.

The Georgian War, iirc, had very little media coverage during the war, especially after RUAF bombed a BBC camera crew (which of course is legitimate. operational secrecy and all that)

Most of the neat pictures we saw came out after the war.

Their offensive has ground to a halt. Can't tell if it's political pressure, Armenian reinforcements finally arriving to the front lines of their general incompetency.

Most likely the first two as Azerbaijan is under political pressure to end the fighting and is having go face Armenian reinforcements arriving from Yerevan. Though they've held their ground thus far against counter attacks (reportedly).

During the first war between 1988-94, Azerbaijani military was under command of a journalist and a plumber. Azerbaijanis were discriminated during Soviet rule so they didn't have much high ranking officers. Their military organisation was in a huge mess.

Armenian military was under command of a four star Soviet General.

In last 20 years Azerbaijan organised their military well. This time they will most likely crush armenians but probably right now they stopped the assault due to political pressure. Still they got some of their stolen land back.

On paper Nagorno-Karabakh belongs to Azerbaijan. So a limited war shouldn't trigger Putin but nobody knows what this corrupt dictator will do. Also he will have a hard time due to Panama documents and his $2 billion in off-shore accounts, so he might use this as a smoke screen.

a.) Putin wants to remove Western influence from your country by having a neutral stance in the conflict and making trade deals with your government
b.) Putin wants reinforcement with the buffer zones in the Caucus and influence in the region, thus needing your government and Armenia's to cooperate otherwise he's forced to attack your government if they ever invade Armenia
c.) Armenia at the time was attempting to start relations with the EU, the deal was also contributed to Armenia's loyalty with Russia, and guess what? It worked, Armenia immediately stopped and joined Russia's economic pact.
Either way, we're not handing you NK, that has always been our land ever since the founding of our kingdom.

Azeris are Shia.
The Iranian - Azeri conflict has nothing to do with the Shia-Sunni conflict, but stems from the fact that Iran sees Azerbaijan as their land.
Iran backed Armenia back in the 90's in the original Azeri-Armenian conflict, which was seen as a betrayal by the Azeris and created the hostilities.
This was later cemented by the Azeri supporting Azeri separatist movements inside Iran (southern Azerbaijan).

>This time they will most likely crush Armenians

a military without fighting experience crushing in a mountain/high hills combat... doubt it.
Furthermore, the Armenians are fighting for their lives, or at the very least they believe they do, while the Azeris are fighting an offensive/expansionist war that they have started. Such things directly effect moral and so the quality of the troops.
The Azeris may win, but I'd doubt it will be easy.

>>
>>29484431
Of course we're fighting for our lives. The Azeris has always tried to change the demographics during the Soviet Union era and have attempted ethnic cleansing during the war in the 90s. The moment the Azeris step into Armenian soil is the moment Russia steps in to stop them due to our defense pact (Just like the US defense pact with Japan). We'll we're still basically at war with Azerbaijin since we haven't signed any peace treaties afterwards, we only signed a ceasefire compliance. The problem is that the Azeris have the West on their backs, and Turkey is a large player. The Turks hate our guts, and they're more than willing to aid Azerbaijin if the conflict goes South
>>

It really isn't when the land is composed of ethnic Armenians in the Nargono Karabakh Republic to be annex with Armenia. Not to mention that territory was acquired theough the first war and will remain so. We can't compromise anything with the Azeris since they'll refuse anything unless all of it is theirs. as much as people on 4chan like to meme about t*rks, Turkey is a more valuable partner in NATO than most other member nations. They just need to boot Erdogan before his Ottoman revivalist fantasies send him over the deep end.

In all honesty, there will probably be conflict in Turkey pretty soon. Erdogan is tremendously unpopular with most of the country, and the old secularists he removed from command in the military still command a lot of respect among enlisted men.
>>
>>29487309
I thought Erdogan was popular with Islamists and nationalists who are still a majority there.
>>
>>29487335
Islamists, yes. Nationalists can go either way. All the secularists would have to do is conjure up shades of Ataturk and mount a relatively united political front and Nationalists would flock to them in droves.

The main issue is that Erdogan has almost complete control over the national police force and the media a la Yanukovych. Erdogan's starting to step on a lot of toes, though, including the US. If he gets to uppity I'm sure a more direct leadership change wouldn't be out of the question.

Didn't he ban Twitter and Facebook at one point?
>>
>>29487169
eh, most videos on YT i've found are similar. Same goes for liveleak

Azeri and Armeni forces in charge of press leaks are doing their jobs well. Most things i've found are post fighting videos of wounded, shitty arty videos or like the one I posted.

most "in the moment" video i've found was an Armenian soldier surrendering.

Also thank you for the info, anon.

Did he get beheaded?
>>
>>29473149
Who?
>>
>>29487390
He's banned all sorts of shit at one time or another. In years past he's usually remembered immediately afterwards that his government is supposed to be a secular democracy and undoes it. Recently he's been getting more bold, though.

Turkey is a lynchpin for the Mediterranean and the US would never let it fall.

Not to meantion they are a nuclear shareing state.

Armeni MoD reports 3 enemy tanks knocked out during morning clashes, no indication as to where or when it happened (apart from happening this morning).

Old news but apparently Armenia has lost ten tanks yesterday against Azeri forces (same source for both reports, plus its from a "neutral" i.e. Russian news source)
>>
>>29487471
They also reported a grad

so it sums up to around 16 vs 12 tank kill count in favor to Armenia...
>>
>>29469036
This isn't the original armeniball version of this image, why the shit edit?
>>
>>29487446
Strange... Veeryy strange.. Also why did they turn off the video? Did one of them go full Allahu Snackbar and shot the guy?
>>
>>29468928

>Armenians
>Slavs
Its literally a bullpup AK-74

Why should Armenia give up anything? They won that land in an armed conflict and now they are defending it. Simply giving into demands when threatened is not accepted in that part of the world.
>>
>>29486334
It would seem fair, but neither government would accept it. Not to mention the scale of migration would be like an exodus
>>
>>29486334
Nay, Azerbaijin only lost a meager 13%. Not to mention that they still owe us for the ethnic cleansing of the region since the Soviet Area despite their stubborness to deny it

This is actually nice, a clean video of people and explosions coming together.
